EVENT #05: FIREWORKS FOR NEW YEAR PREPARATION
With winter’s chill already setting in, Corsair laboratories are hard at work pumping out explosives for the operation to come. After extensive training, the crews of the Corsair airship brigade bring the infiltrators quietly to the Isles Above, all cabin lights doused to move stealthily to the drop point. There, Corsair specialists will disembark and plant explosives, as well as, perhaps, make contact with local workers and evacuate them if time permits. With all crews operating with quiet efficiency, the time is almost nigh to strike at the heart of the Empire itself.
Any mission marked Critical must have at least one log in progress by the end of the month to be counted as complete. Missing Critical missions will have major negative impacts on the Execution mission in the following month. Supplemental missions can be completed or not, completing them will go toward achieving optimal results during the Execution mission next month. As with Critical missions, Supplemental missions must have at least one log in progress by the end of the month to be counted as complete.
SUPPLIER MISSIONS
Create Explosives: Characters will need to create explosives and munitions for deployment.
Priority: Critical
Challenges: In order to get explosives that will make enough of a dent in the Imperial forces, Corsairs will need to develop them from the live rounds dropped above the vault. Logs can involve recovering salvage as well as construction of explosives.
Develop Precision Explosives: Characters will need to develop precision explosives to avoid undue damage to the civilians of Bluvink during the attack.
Priority: Supplemental
Challenges: This will require some research and development from suppliers to find explosives that will detonate at very specific levels in order to not cause the volatile materials within the Bluvink factory to ignite and cause wide-scale damage to the town.
Develop Communications Hijack: Characters will need to develop a tool that can hijack communications within the Empire.
Priority: Supplemental
Challenges: This will require recovering some Imperial communication technology from salvage or from the Vault and finding a way to dominate Imperial airwaves so they can’t shut down the Corsair propaganda.
INFILTRATOR MISSIONS
Set Explosives in Bluvink: Characters will need to sneak into the Bluvink factory and set explosives, preparing for them to explode during the New Year attack.
Priority: Critical
Challenges: The factory has regular guard rotations that can be figured out with proper observation, they will need to be avoided. The facility will also need to be properly cased so that the explosives can be set in places they will not be detected.
Set Explosives in the Vindess Mines: Characters will need to sneak into the Vindess Mines and set explosives, preparing for them to explode during the New Year attack.
Priority: Critical
Challenges: The mines have regular guard rotations and are constantly manned by serfs and servants. All will need to be avoided in order to set the explosives, and those manning the mines must be avoided at all costs.
NEGOTIATOR MISSIONS
Miner Negotiation: Characters will need to convince the miners to evacuate and to join with the Corsairs, as well as not tip off the Imperials.
Priority: Supplemental
Challenges: Many miners are distrustful of the Corsairs due to Imperial Propoganda, and several are Imperial loyalists even under the current circumstances. Several miners may need to be subdued in order to safely evacuate the area without their captors being alerted.
VILLAINS
Villain plots will be planned this month and will happen in the following month. Potential villains may post here to start workshopping potential plots that they may take part in next month.

Date: 2024-12-13 09:58 pm (UTC)1. Do we know if the Empire has a way to detect disabled suppression collars at close range?
2. How certain are we that they store munitions in the same factory as they build their Armors?

Date: 2024-12-10 08:06 am (UTC)For Supplier he'd be better suited for either explosives development or working on how to hijack communications. Leaning more towards the latter.
For Infiltrator he'd throw in on Bluvink because he's not going near any more mines if he can help it, at least for a while.

Date: 2024-12-10 11:05 am (UTC)Infiltrator-wise, Atom is probably most useful at Bluvink so he can scan the place and make careful calculations to keep the future explosion in check despite the volatile chemicals present.
Also an option: Backing up the mine explosion team by crunching numbers quickly for them based on information such as video, measurements, and maps they send him via the network. If you'd like, you're welcome to handwave this communication happening by dropping a brief mention of it in your thread. I'm also open to threading it if anyone wishes.

Date: 2024-12-13 01:00 am (UTC)For Supplier, hijacking communications tech is something she has quite a bit of experience with, from both the technology end and the surveillance/snooping end.
For Infiltrator, she could help with both cover and gathering intelligence, as well as actually doing the planting of the seeds.

Sorry everyone for disappearing. I was in the hospital for a couple weeks, then had complications after release. Hoping to ease back into things.

Date: 2024-12-13 10:51 am (UTC)Every step of building explosives is dangerous, but as long as everyone is careful, the most dangerous part of this process has to be the retrieval of live Imperial ammunitions from the test field over The Vault. While they do go up under the cover of night to avoid revealing their presence to the Empire, the Imperial test firing of experimental weapons remains relentless at all times of the day, making it a very risky task.
Atom volunteers to go up, being both a smaller target and resistant to shrapnel and the sharp remains of used targets. With his scanners, he can see in the dark and locate desired material easily. But his stature comes with short arms that can only carry so much, and they'll need a lot of material to make enough bombs for both target locations.
Finding the material is one thing. Carrying it back safely under fire in the dark is another.
B. Precision
As one of the people planning to go the Bluvink factory, Atom takes time to prepare and do his part in determining the amount and strength of explosives needed. He starts by looking over the provided blueprints of the factory and flipping through books from the Vault library on chemicals and the armor manufacturing process. He goes quickly, speed reading books like- well- a machine.
Another down... Next... He grabs another book from the pile.
Anyone who knows him is used to his curious and friendly nature, but he looks different in this moment. Focused, intense, even grave. Nobody in this world would know, but there's a clear resemblance to his creator in him as he studies like this.
Eventually he starts writing notes. Those who are good with chemistry or engineering might want to discuss their thoughts on the progress the group has made so far.

Date: 2024-12-14 10:45 am (UTC)In what felt like her first real task since arriving and getting equipped and outfitted, Oki turned her eyes to the Vault's gathered intelligence on the communications of the Empire. It started with a visit to a storage area, where the chimera clomped in, gathered up a large, unused table in her arms and simply hefted it and took it to a corner of the Vault's facilities, found a spot free of anything too large or fragile for her to haul aside. Her next movement was to gather whatever plans, books and notes she could find - modest as the collection was - on the state of the art of signals technology, and the present state of affairs in the Empire. All of this, she stacked, organized and filed for relative ease of access along one side of the table, and she sat there and began to read, and assimilate information. She also began to take notes, using the local language, her hand practiced and her handwriting tight, even blocky.

Date: 2024-12-16 01:35 am (UTC)So instead, the turtlekin relies on information he's learned from others and from experimentation, and from his personal experience in working on and with armors and their related gear.
In this particular instance, he's taken to doing some test detonations in a designated section of the Vault, taking note as he does so in regards to material, strength, damage radius for x amount... Of course it's rather loud in here and he's got his earmuffs on so one might have to put some effort into getting his attention if he's not already aware that they're present.

He didn't come alone. Not only his teammates from the corsairs are with him, but he's bearing the proverbial canary in a cage, with a setup to revive it, with conjured air in the worst case using an Air Ether crystal - he didn't have a crystal large enough to revive a fully grown person.
He but very carefully places a charge against a wall, and unspools the fuse.

Convincing the miners unionists that they're being had isn't hard. It's convincing them to have compassion for the slaves - to help them evacuate as well when the time comes - that will be the trick.
"Oh, Vindess is a terrible place, where they rub wet clay in the blackleg's face..." he sings, in time with passing loose rock down to the waste carts.
