EVENT #05: FIREWORKS FOR NEW YEAR PREPARATION

With winter’s chill already setting in, Corsair laboratories are hard at work pumping out explosives for the operation to come. After extensive training, the crews of the Corsair airship brigade bring the infiltrators quietly to the Isles Above, all cabin lights doused to move stealthily to the drop point. There, Corsair specialists will disembark and plant explosives, as well as, perhaps, make contact with local workers and evacuate them if time permits. With all crews operating with quiet efficiency, the time is almost nigh to strike at the heart of the Empire itself.

Any mission marked Critical must have at least one log in progress by the end of the month to be counted as complete. Missing Critical missions will have major negative impacts on the Execution mission in the following month. Supplemental missions can be completed or not, completing them will go toward achieving optimal results during the Execution mission next month. As with Critical missions, Supplemental missions must have at least one log in progress by the end of the month to be counted as complete.

SUPPLIER MISSIONS

Create Explosives: Characters will need to create explosives and munitions for deployment.
Priority: Critical
Challenges: In order to get explosives that will make enough of a dent in the Imperial forces, Corsairs will need to develop them from the live rounds dropped above the vault. Logs can involve recovering salvage as well as construction of explosives.

Develop Precision Explosives: Characters will need to develop precision explosives to avoid undue damage to the civilians of Bluvink during the attack.
Priority: Supplemental
Challenges: This will require some research and development from suppliers to find explosives that will detonate at very specific levels in order to not cause the volatile materials within the Bluvink factory to ignite and cause wide-scale damage to the town.

Develop Communications Hijack: Characters will need to develop a tool that can hijack communications within the Empire.
Priority: Supplemental
Challenges: This will require recovering some Imperial communication technology from salvage or from the Vault and finding a way to dominate Imperial airwaves so they can’t shut down the Corsair propaganda.

INFILTRATOR MISSIONS

Set Explosives in Bluvink: Characters will need to sneak into the Bluvink factory and set explosives, preparing for them to explode during the New Year attack.
Priority: Critical
Challenges: The factory has regular guard rotations that can be figured out with proper observation, they will need to be avoided. The facility will also need to be properly cased so that the explosives can be set in places they will not be detected.

Set Explosives in the Vindess Mines: Characters will need to sneak into the Vindess Mines and set explosives, preparing for them to explode during the New Year attack.
Priority: Critical
Challenges: The mines have regular guard rotations and are constantly manned by serfs and servants. All will need to be avoided in order to set the explosives, and those manning the mines must be avoided at all costs.

NEGOTIATOR MISSIONS

Miner Negotiation: Characters will need to convince the miners to evacuate and to join with the Corsairs, as well as not tip off the Imperials.
Priority: Supplemental
Challenges: Many miners are distrustful of the Corsairs due to Imperial Propoganda, and several are Imperial loyalists even under the current circumstances. Several miners may need to be subdued in order to safely evacuate the area without their captors being alerted.

VILLAINS

Villain plots will be planned this month and will happen in the following month. Potential villains may post here to start workshopping potential plots that they may take part in next month.

"Better compare our position to the map and the pass the charges around," Atom agrees. He removes the knapsack he had carried inside once they were able to get past the guards, and starts by pulling out the curled up paper map on top. He holds it out to her, having already added it to his data.

"Generally, the bigger the room, the higher the roof, and the higher the climbing for some of the locations will be." He better point it out before anyone claims a specific area, just in case there are any with a fear of heights or those who excel at reaching high places.

"Elevation will not be an issue for me," Renne replies confidently. "Were we wanting to avoid hostiles or... neutralize them?"

"Avoid. If they find out about our presence, they'll be curious why we're here. We don't want anyone to call for a sweep of the factory and finding the charges," he explains.

He sure hopes it won't come to neutralization. He also wonders how much experience she has despite being a teenage human, but they don't have time for that conversation.

He starts pulling charges from his bag and offers a couple of them to her while the others who had carried in charges start passing them around too. "You were there for the demonstration, right?" he asks everyone present, just in case anyone in the group missed the meeting or had forgotten due to nerves. "As long as these are placed within ten feet of the noted location on the map, it should be effective. So if there's a place out of sight, take advantage of it. The one exception are the marked load bearing beams- make sure the charges are placed somewhere on the beams themselves."

"Well that's no fun." Renne jokingly pouts a bit, but still listens attentively and watches with sharp eyes, nodding once after the explanation is finished.

"Understood. Shall we?"

The group starts to split, with several people already sure of which locations they're taking care of. Atom turns to Renne and points to a few of marks on the map. "Can you join me placing the charges at some of the higher up locations? I can fly, but the ones at the far end here are close to some of the storage areas that I need to avoid while using flying."

"Not a problem," Renne says confidently. "I can scale that easily." With a small smile, she takes the charges and nimbly begins jumping and climbing up to the requested locations.

What Atom sees of her ascent to the assigned places makes it clear why she was confident in her ability to scale the factory. She's like an acrobat, he notes, reminded of robots and people from the circus he was once a part of.

Atom kicks off the cheap sandals he was wearing and fires up his feet, flying up to plant his share of the explosives high on the support beams above. At least if the Imperials caught on that something odd was happening at the factory, they would have a hard time finding the charges that were higher up and facing away from the floor. He hurries to return to the ground, not wanting to keep an open flame alight for long even with the wide space away from the danger zones. He slips his sandals back on and looks around to check on others' progress.

"That was interesting."

Renne casually emerges from the shadows behind Atom, her tone mild. "I don't think I know an art that can cast fire from your feet."

Atom was mentally checking locations off the factory map that he knew had been planted, but perks up at the sound of her returning from the task. "Oh, I'm only a beginning spellcaster," he insists, looking bashful. "The flame emitters were built into me so I can fly."
