EVENT #03: WAR ORDER - EXTERMINATION EXECUTION LOG
The Imperial attack strikes like a thunderclap. In the traditional sense, a Legion is comprised of 1,000 men. In the Imperial reckoning, each individual legion holds a variety of troops - while some may have their own specialties, all legions are formidable and versatile fighting forces.
The legion that sweeps over the mine is an artillery-focused legion. A flight of airships descend upon the mine and starts raining devastation upon the facility. While the mine itself is left intact, an airship with heavy shock troopers lands in front of it, the soldiers immediately entering the mine and sealing off the entrances and exits to preserve the facility and slay all within.
The legion that attacks Flotsam is an Armor Legion, and the flight darkens the skies as carrier airships and a swarm of armors descend upon the floating city. As the Corsairs launch their coordinated counterattack, they know in their hearts that successfully mounting this defense will be among the most difficult things they have ever done.
ALL CORSAIRS
Mine Defense Gunners: Corsairs will need to man the defense arsenal installed in the mines to strike back as much as they can against the Legion, before retreating to safety.
Conflict: The Legion will do their best to destroy all present artillery, characters will need to dodge the shelling.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read MINE DEFENSE GUNNERS.
Region: Hesaeth
Mine Evacuation and Destruction: Corsairs will need to evacuate any remaining personnel to the tunnels before collapsing them, as well as ensuring that the secret of the Corsair submersibles is not given to the Empire.
Conflict: The mine is crawling with Heavy Shock Troopers with orders to kill everyone on sight. Corsairs will need to evade or fight these troopers as they evacuate the final remaining personnel and bring the mine down on their heads.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read either MINE EVACUATION AND DESTRUCTION.
Region: Hesaeth
Defense of Flotsam: Flotsam is under heavy fire from the Legion, they must be fought back here and now. This log can take any number of permutations depending on how a character chooses to fight. All captured Armors will be made available for PC use for this fight, and can be claimed in this thread. All Flotsam airships will also be active in this fight and may be incorporated into the log. Flotsam’s sea ships are all generally armed with a hodgepodge of weaponry which will be utilized in this attack.
Conflict: A Legion is trying to destroy every last ship in the fleet and send you all to the bottom of the Eternal Ocean, and they have the firepower to back this up. The Legion consists of 7 carrier airships and 200 armors, as well as 800 general crew and landing forces. It will take all of the Corsair’s might to beat them back.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read DEFENSE OF FLOTSAM.
Region: Flotsam
Imperial Witch: A young girl with flowing green hair and empty, soulless eyes descends upon Flotsam. Upon her head rests an ornate bronze crown, and her Armor is like a ferocious beast. At her command, fire rises to her call - and she leaves naught but devastation and ash in her wake.
Conflict: This is a villain plot with a PC villain character - up to 4 characters may sign up for this plot on a first-come first-serve basis and the PC Villain will control the flow of the log. In general, the PC Villain will tag after all active participants, or after 24 hours have passed, whichever comes first.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, post in the sign-up thread and tag into the appropriate top level. The first 4 players to sign up may take part, and these players will receive lower priority in the next villain plot until all players have had a turn.
Region: Flotsam
Players will generally have free reign to narrate the event’s occurrences as they wish. For the Execution phase, please refer to the Conflict descriptor to get an idea of the kind of narrative difficulties you will encounter and feel free to make use of them as much or as little as you like to make the thread interesting.
Characters are free to use single large threads or multiple smaller threads to meet the character threshold at the player’s discretion.
If you wish to deploy a Gambit during your mission, in the subject line of the reply you’re using the Gambit in type GAMBIT: [NAME OF GAMBIT]. Using Gambits isn’t required for the success of a thread, but doing so will be taken into account when we factor out the successes and failures of the mission.
Due to the coordinated nature of the attack, characters may only participate in logs in a single select region for this mission as they are occurring simultaneously.

She'd have to take her hands off the controls to grab the Etheric Baton she had shoved into the gap between her seat and the side of the cockpit, but she could cast ahead of her-and by the time she was gone, the ocean would be fountain up, forming a vast catcher's mitt to intercept the fireball and soak it up. From above and below-surely their combined efforts would extinguish the fireball, even if the long run away meant that attacking Terra again would take time.
And, if it was close enough and she wasn't fast enough, the steam explosion would still rattle her badly, even if the fireball didn't burn her alive.

Date: 2024-09-18 03:26 am (UTC)Link will feel a sudden surge within. The power of Light.
"You should be able to point warp to wherever you throw your sword. Like you've seen me do!"
Noctis then point warps from mast to mast in order to get closer to the armor that the woman controls. He'll also radio to the others.
"If it's anything like the Magitek back home, there will be a core. Take it out and the armor will be useless!"
Lastly, when he's within range, his eyes will glow red and he'll call upon the power of blizzara a chill wind engulfing the fireball that's chasing Angelika and freezing it in place.

Date: 2024-09-18 03:38 am (UTC)As the rain falls, a hint of light shines in Terra's eyes. She looks up, holding out her hand as if to catch it for but a moment, before the crown on her head pulses with an eerie red light. Her eyes betray a moment of fear, and then return to their original blank, expressionless form.
Bringing her hands down, the armor opens with giant rods emerging from its back. Waving her hands, she begins calling the lightning, which starts striking into the rods in the back of the armor as its maw opens and begins charging. In an instant, it unleashes the full fury of a storm of lightning upon the Corsairs.

Date: 2024-09-18 05:54 am (UTC)But nevermind what the long-dead King of Hyrule could or couldn't do, however. Because apparently that Armour's like a King Gleeok, and Link needs to both get out of the way and get close enough to actually do some real damage. To do this, Link chooses to go with the simplest option.
He tosses his sword at Terra herself...and warps right up on top of the shield.
Of course, it's a bubble - so Link doesn't stay up there. He starts sliding down immediately, but as he does so he slashes at the shield with his fused lizalfos-talon blade, aiming for where Angelika hit it earlier and doing as much damage as he can before he falls.
And then, mid-air as he plummets down - he sheaths his blade, and draws his bow once more.
To Link, it looks like the world around him slows down. To everyone else, it looks like he's suddenly shooting a sequence of arrows impossibly fast - up to nine within the space of a second. To these arrows, he attaches Ice Fruit, each exploding in a burst of freezing cold as he strikes at that same crack in the shield.
But for the last arrow, he shoots to the side - and then warps to part of a ship away from where Terra's lightning strikes.

The potential benefit of this, if the others considered it a benefit, was that the operator would be less likely to be injured or killed by the destruction of her armor. As Link and the others leap into action, Shu concentrates once more as she reaches into her bag to pull out a handful of seeds.
"Sow the mountains when summer leaves a white dew. Seed the plains when equinox paints the russet hue."
She blows on her hands and a whirlwind of spinning seeds spirals into the air, drifting down through the sky and coating everything in range - ship, ocean, armor, combatants. Where they land, they bud, and a fine green aura shimmers around the battlefield. For Link, Angelika, and Noctis, they will feel a surge of strength and speed running through them. And though the lightning strikes Shu's ship, sending sailors and Corsairs keeling to their knees, the burns slowly fade and the wounds slowly knit themselves together in real time.
...The damage to the ship is another story, though. As the lightning strikes, the deck splinters and the sails catch fire, sending Shu lurching backwards.
"Be careful, everyone. Stay close to me if you get injured."

Date: 2024-09-19 02:10 am (UTC)Angelika knew rather a lot about Armor, and her mostly-steel Soldier wallowed like a pig. It's acceleration was impressive, but only in a dive or a straight line. Slaloming or climbing was slow, because sudden reversals and fighting gravity both were fought by the heavy mass of the armor. She could make punishing dive attacks-it fell from the sky like a terrifying metal falcon-but she had to wind up for those strikes, and when there were attacks coming for her, like say, a giant lightning cannon, she couldn't exactly dodge-
But if it's drawing power from the storm, then how to cut off the power is blindingly obvious, if a bit taxing. Drawing a deep breath-and casting another spell from the seat of her Armor, Angelika throws a shield on top of Terra's Armor. One higher up above it, to protect her from all that nasty lightning that she's being hit by. Starve her attack of power? Why nothing could be further from the truth! This is perfectly altruistic, and totally not a calculated move to absorb lesser strikes before they can become a greater one.
It's not without cost though. Angelika can feel her Ether levels take a hit with every blow, her spell consuming her own stamina like water through a pipe as she powers the shield to take the hits. This spell isn't really all that useful normally because it takes more magic than it costs to cast offensive spells-but for now, it's an effective barrier, even if relying purely on it is a quick way to lose a mage duel.
Sorry, just got off work.
Date: 2024-09-19 06:52 am (UTC)What he really needs to do is get onto that armor and face the woman in melee combat.
The shield will hold for a bit as Noctis continues to move closer to the armor, he activates Armiger, a series of crystalline weapons appearing in a circle around him as he throws his sword, embedding it into the side of their opponents armor and warp strikes again and again, finally embedding his sword in the side and hanging on. He'll climb up in a second...
With the Royal Arms, he'll focus on taking out the lightning rods, the weapons surrounding hin moving with the power of his mind.

Date: 2024-09-19 07:14 pm (UTC)With someone so close, Terra turns emotionlessly toward Noctis. Her eyes glow with an eerie red light as she raises her hand and utters a single word.
"Flare."
Small beads of condensed flame surge toward Noctis, bristling with energy as if they are about to explode violently.

Date: 2024-09-21 12:53 am (UTC)"GET OUT OF THERE!" she screamed, even as she stood her Armor on it's own flame and pushed it into a charge. Once again, the engine vibration built up and up, shaking her like she was in the grip of a giant dog. She had the presence of mind to fire her thrusters and extend an arm to tumble past an enemy Feder, which had been trying to use the same dive-tactics on her that she herself had opened the fight with Terra with. But this pilot had accelerated too long down, or not braked hard enough to stop his attack before he went into the drink. The fountain of water nearly dragged her down too, but she bent the water away from her, and kept it from extinguishing her thrusters.
Charging down Terra was going to take an eternity however. Maybe ten, twelve seconds, to reach top speed, skimming just above wave-height, and then a single passing attack. She'd have to cut back the thrusters to stabilize enough to get a good slash with the daggers-she could only hope she managed a clean landing on one of the ships afterwards, and didn't wreck both a burned ship and her Armor in the aftermath.

Date: 2024-09-22 03:09 am (UTC)"Home! ...Shot your gun!"
Cries up and down the ships are echoed by the neighbors in their fleet still standing.
"Fire!"
A round of cannon fire sends a line of projectiles hurtling towards Terra. On Shu's part, she is still holding a meditative position as the aura around Noctis gleams particularly brightly. The best she could do was offer him Sanctuary to temper the damage and ready an instant surge of healing for whenever the magic took hold.

Date: 2024-09-24 06:44 am (UTC)Had he been any other citizen of Eos and not of the Lucien line, he may not have recognized the spell. But he does.
"SHIT!"
Noctis does his best to dodge away, a phantom image of his form made of blue light left in his wake as he warp-strikes the shield again, this time landing behind the enemy and on top of the shield.
Of course he doesn't make it out completely unscathed. He hisses in pain as the fire bursts and singes his arms and legs. He'll continue to warp-strike the shield though, even using Royal Arms to hopefully bring it down.

Date: 2024-09-24 10:04 am (UTC)By the time Link realises just how serious the situation is, Noctis has already warped away. But that doesn't mean he can't help.
An ice-fruit arrow is shot at the shield - and when Link warps in right next to Noctis, he immediately tosses a splash fruit right at him. The effect is rather like Noctis has just been hit with a giant water balloon, putting out any trace of fire on him.
And then Link draws his sword, and follows up Noctis's attacks with strikes of his own. They needed this shield down now.

Date: 2024-09-26 06:47 am (UTC)"Bio Blast," she intones, as a wave of noxious gasses spreads out to envelop the area. While this is happening, flames begin charging in the armor's open maw.
"Fire Beam."
The flames erupt forward, causing the poisonous gas to ignite and explode up the area. Even Terra herself is caught up in the attack, even with her own shield protection, a single pained tear falling down her otherwise emotionless face as the crown on her head continues to glow an eerie red.

Date: 2024-09-27 01:36 am (UTC)And, if Link or Noctis was badly hurt, she might have arrived just in time to drop a dagger and catch them in a mighty hand instead.

Date: 2024-09-27 11:21 pm (UTC)But those skills can only go so far - and it's a rather hard to dodge a gas.
He tries, regardless. Link leaps to one, managing to at least avoid the full, direct force of the explosion. But he's still caught on the edges, and as Link lands into a roll the flames roll over him. His left side burns, and his yell transforms into a hacking cough from the gas that seeped into his lungs.
Link's had worse. But it's not a fun time.
With Angelika now getting in close, Link warp-throws off to the side, to get a bit of distance. Pulls out a splash fruit, and dumps it on himself. Then draws his bow once more, firing off several more arrows, this time fused with lizalfos talons for extra damage.

Date: 2024-09-27 11:58 pm (UTC)The rainstorm picks up as a strong wind disperses the poison cloud to a negligible diffuse scattering of motes as quickly as it can.

Date: 2024-09-29 05:47 am (UTC)What he's not expecting, is for the woman to unleash an attack with no concern for her own safety as he meets that blank gaze with his own cobalt as her tear falls.
Noctis is also usually one to dodge, but dodging gas is another story. The pain surges through him, clouding his thoughts and making it difficult to move.
But then a light of succor as the fog of agony clears a little and he's able to warp away until the gas is cleared. Thank the Six for whoever provided this wash of healing.
Angelika comes sweeping in in a magitek of her own and Noctis gives her a thumbs up as he warp-strikes from the flank and throws an ice aspected magic flask at any holes in the shield Angelika might inflict in hopes of freezing Terra's armor before she can produce more flames.

Date: 2024-09-29 06:12 pm (UTC)Terra stands for a moment, stricken, tears streaming down her face as it contorts into a look of fear. The crown's jewel glows an eerie, angry red which stains her eyes and her face once again returns to a neutral expression. A magical circle appears underneath the armor as it launches 3 missiles, one at Link, one at Noctis, and one at Angelika.
"Meltdown."
The entire world erupts into flames as it consumes the entire area. Even the ship Shu is standing on finds itself wreathed in flames, as Terra emits a single pained cry - not even she is safe from the effects.

Date: 2024-09-30 01:12 am (UTC)New robes, I suppose...
Ji is never around when you actually need him.
It isn't especially surprising to her that she finds herself in the sea shortly after, and it probably isn't especially surprising to anybody else when a scattering of lily pads pops up to buoy her to the surface, coughing and spluttering. Another wave of healing pulses out from her in random directions.
She has one more idle thought, one that has perhaps struck her because she has had the fortune of viewing everything from a distance, as unto a scene in a theater, rather than desperately trying to duck away from attacks up close.
"That object on her head... It glows every time she uses magic. It seems to pain her."

Date: 2024-09-30 04:38 pm (UTC)Everything hurts. She feels like she's been roasted, she dropped her baton into the bottom of the cockpit, and her Armor is blaring multiple alarms, the engines about to shut down. She still is grappled to Terra's Armor, but she hangs from it like dead weight, the flight thrusters no longer firing. "Oh, gods..." she croaks, before Shu's words reach her. The crown-yes, it's obviously important. But Angelika doesn't like her odds if she tries to get out of the cockpit and reach Terra.
Instead, she casts her eyes about-for the young king and knight, locking down her own controls and leaving her machine to simply hang onto Terra's while she bends-ow-and retrieves her magic focus. "Soothing Waves! Divine Grace!" Healing spells and magical shields wrap themselves around both young men (Different watery healing than Link may recall, but yet familiar in type). "Get up, get up, Please get up, and get that thing off her!"

Date: 2024-10-01 07:05 am (UTC)Luckily, there's another wave of healing that sends a shock through his system, revitalizing him and he summons the Royal Arms around himself, a myriad of spectral weapons circling him as he warp-strikes, lunging for Terra with aims for the crown. The weapons he controls with his mind and they fend off any oncoming attacks as he goes for his goal.

Date: 2024-10-01 09:54 am (UTC)Guardians, all around them. A red dot on his forehead. A searing, white-hot pain and Zelda's arms around him, as everything begins to go dark...
...but then the wave of Shu and Angelika's healing power washes the vision away, along with the worst of the pain. No, Link's not dying again - not today - and if he can help it, neither is anyone else.
As Noctis lunges at Terra, Link moves to flank opposite him. And while the Noctis goes for the crown, Link goes on the attack. He strikes towards her face, her chest, her vital organs - he can't afford anything less, not with how dangerous she is.

Date: 2024-10-01 07:16 pm (UTC)"Blizzaga."
An enormous pillar of ice materializes between her and the warriors and begins pushing toward them.
"Thundaga."
A huge bolt of lightning descends from the heavens, targeting Noctis and Link.
"Firaga."
An enormous ball of flame locks onto Angelika and starts pursuing her at alarming speeds.
"Reclaim the girl and the armor."
A harsh voice crackles through the air as an enormous airship breaks through the cloudcover, approaching Terra as it lays down covering fire. As it approaches, the bay doors open and scoop up Terra and her armor, before the ship begins to climb in altitude.

Date: 2024-10-01 10:56 pm (UTC)She isn't sure if they should be pleased or not. As far as the battle went, it wasn't even a stalemate. They hadn't managed to land a single blow on the armor that would be considered impactful. Indeed, they had barely managed to break through the shield. Meanwhile, the girl had slung out spell after spell of catastrophic proportions - even if it seemed as if she had suffered the costs herself.
She suspected the girl was not the one they wanted to suffer the costs.
As the final spells descend, Shu sighs heavily as she bobs up and down on the water and watches them seek after her companions.
"Myriad grains, everlasting, granting sanctuary to those who seek succor." Her final defensive power, offering a protective barrier to those in harm's way. "Let us regroup. There are many sailors in need of our aid."
The ships were still burning.

Date: 2024-10-03 01:33 am (UTC)But unlike Shu, he's very confident that their enemy retreating is a good thing. Any battle in which you don't die is a victory. And right now, Link might be burned, electrocuted, and bruised - but he's not dead.
So right now he's just...going to flop. Just for a bit. Then he’ll get back to work.
