EVENT #03: WAR ORDER - EXTERMINATION EXECUTION LOG


The Imperial attack strikes like a thunderclap. In the traditional sense, a Legion is comprised of 1,000 men. In the Imperial reckoning, each individual legion holds a variety of troops - while some may have their own specialties, all legions are formidable and versatile fighting forces.

The legion that sweeps over the mine is an artillery-focused legion. A flight of airships descend upon the mine and starts raining devastation upon the facility. While the mine itself is left intact, an airship with heavy shock troopers lands in front of it, the soldiers immediately entering the mine and sealing off the entrances and exits to preserve the facility and slay all within.

The legion that attacks Flotsam is an Armor Legion, and the flight darkens the skies as carrier airships and a swarm of armors descend upon the floating city. As the Corsairs launch their coordinated counterattack, they know in their hearts that successfully mounting this defense will be among the most difficult things they have ever done.

ALL CORSAIRS

Mine Defense Gunners: Corsairs will need to man the defense arsenal installed in the mines to strike back as much as they can against the Legion, before retreating to safety.
Conflict: The Legion will do their best to destroy all present artillery, characters will need to dodge the shelling.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read MINE DEFENSE GUNNERS.
Region: Hesaeth

Mine Evacuation and Destruction: Corsairs will need to evacuate any remaining personnel to the tunnels before collapsing them, as well as ensuring that the secret of the Corsair submersibles is not given to the Empire.
Conflict: The mine is crawling with Heavy Shock Troopers with orders to kill everyone on sight. Corsairs will need to evade or fight these troopers as they evacuate the final remaining personnel and bring the mine down on their heads.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read either MINE EVACUATION AND DESTRUCTION.
Region: Hesaeth

Defense of Flotsam: Flotsam is under heavy fire from the Legion, they must be fought back here and now. This log can take any number of permutations depending on how a character chooses to fight. All captured Armors will be made available for PC use for this fight, and can be claimed in this thread. All Flotsam airships will also be active in this fight and may be incorporated into the log. Flotsam’s sea ships are all generally armed with a hodgepodge of weaponry which will be utilized in this attack.
Conflict: A Legion is trying to destroy every last ship in the fleet and send you all to the bottom of the Eternal Ocean, and they have the firepower to back this up. The Legion consists of 7 carrier airships and 200 armors, as well as 800 general crew and landing forces. It will take all of the Corsair’s might to beat them back.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read DEFENSE OF FLOTSAM.
Region: Flotsam

Imperial Witch: A young girl with flowing green hair and empty, soulless eyes descends upon Flotsam. Upon her head rests an ornate bronze crown, and her Armor is like a ferocious beast. At her command, fire rises to her call - and she leaves naught but devastation and ash in her wake.
Conflict: This is a villain plot with a PC villain character - up to 4 characters may sign up for this plot on a first-come first-serve basis and the PC Villain will control the flow of the log. In general, the PC Villain will tag after all active participants, or after 24 hours have passed, whichever comes first.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, post in the sign-up thread and tag into the appropriate top level. The first 4 players to sign up may take part, and these players will receive lower priority in the next villain plot until all players have had a turn.
Region: Flotsam

Players will generally have free reign to narrate the event’s occurrences as they wish. For the Execution phase, please refer to the Conflict descriptor to get an idea of the kind of narrative difficulties you will encounter and feel free to make use of them as much or as little as you like to make the thread interesting.

Characters are free to use single large threads or multiple smaller threads to meet the character threshold at the player’s discretion.

If you wish to deploy a Gambit during your mission, in the subject line of the reply you’re using the Gambit in type GAMBIT: [NAME OF GAMBIT]. Using Gambits isn’t required for the success of a thread, but doing so will be taken into account when we factor out the successes and failures of the mission.

Due to the coordinated nature of the attack, characters may only participate in logs in a single select region for this mission as they are occurring simultaneously.

In the din of the fighting, a young woman riding a strange, bestial Armor descends on the Flotsam fleet, bursts of flame sustaining its flight as it approaches. Once it reaches a comfortable altitude, the woman glows with an aura of bright red ether as flames gather in the open maw of the Armor. In an instant, a small beam streaks across the fleet, and five ships immediately burst into flame. Throughout all of this, her eyes are eerily emotionless, and her movements mechanical, almost as if she is a living doll.

Here's a newcomer! INTRO & CR

Atom is in the Hesaeth region.

He's best suited to the Mine Evacuation and Destruction task and was already helping evacuate the mines in the TDM. He can carry someone, if needed, to hurry things up or help evade troopers but his flight is quite flashy so it's best done in areas the troops haven't reached. If a passage is clear, he can help set the explosives quick with a fly in, set, and fly out. (Not to mention it's probably safer for a robot to handle and calculate the placement of the explosives.)

Maybe there's a way to trick the troopers into entering an empty passage and then collapsing the exit behind them? (Or the roof on top of them but that part won't be an IC suggestion from Atom at this point lol). Any ideas for pulling that off?

He could be a runner or distraction for the Gunners if more hands are needed there instead. He isn't used to using weapons- usually he's the weapon- so he might have to borrow something if it comes to it, and he'll hesitate to attack if he isn't acting in defense of himself or others. Otherwise he'd try launching himself at enemies for defense.

Harlock will be participating in the Defense of Flotsam, he'll be leading part of the defensive with the intent to split the Imperials forces to make the fight much more manageable to deal with.

I'm torn between locations guys. Mostly because my brain processed Hesaeth's deal as a kind of auto-event since they were setting up for it to blow, idk, so I figured Dee would be helping with everyone else at Flotsam.

I'm still somewhat inclined to throw in on Flotsam's side but if a lot more people are interested on that end, then I can have Donnie hang back and stick to helping on Hesaeth's side. I'll let this sit a bit and see what sides others might have interests in before I commit! ^-^

Gohan will be participating in the Defense of Flotsam. Protecting ships will be his top priority, but he'll be as aggressive as he can by trying to draw the Armors' attention and perhaps even one or two of the enemy carriers.

Ilphyl is willing to help out in the Hesaeth region. They don't know how to use firearms, but they can see in pure darkness, can use animal forms to walk on the wall and ceiling or shrink down to small size, and are a medic. So, willing to be a hit and run combatant in the evacuation, or help with defending the gunners.

Ilphyl can offer to be a decoy while wild-shaped into something small enough that it could escape via alternate means (like an air vent). Or use magic to create a distraction. (And they'd rather trap soldiers over killing them, for both ethical and pragmatic reasons. Depending on how important the soldiers are, the Empire might need to devote time to rescue them, and it works for the Corsairs' reputation to avoid killing.)

That sounds like it would work. Atom will easily agree to doing it the ethical way. Any chance Ilphyl has a spell that would allow them to quickly mark the fallen rock to indicate where the soldiers have been buried? While Atom could remember no problem, they're not necessarily going to be the ones digging them out later.

If they were forced to fight, does Ilphyl have a weapon or attack?

That's roughly what Harlock kind of has in mind, protecting the fleet by dividing and drawing away enemy ships, and knocking down one of the carriers would be most helpful on that end.

Link was up high in the mast, on a ship right next to one of the ones that burst into flame when the young woman attacks.

His bow in his hands, he turns and shifts his arm towards the young woman on the bestial armour. Fuses a Dazzlefruit to his arrow - and fires.

When it lands, it will burst into a small explosion of bright, dazzling light. Light that's bright enough to blind.

Senshi will also be defending his home. As an actual captain with actual tactical experience, Senshi knows to defer to Harlock’s operational and tactical judgement.

He’s best suited to repelling boarders, but he’ll man cannons or grab antimech weaponry as needed; he may try to fight mechs on foot.

Senshi does not like this. Give him boarders to repel, not fancy armor that swoops past like an angry hawk.

Still, there are the cannon, and if needed there are pistols and crossbows.

An Armor is a small target to hit with a cannon. Senshi figures that even if all he can do is forcing one to dodge, his allies can take advantage of it.

He puts the torch to Smiling Jack’s fuse and bellows, “FIRE IN THE HOLE!”

Noctis is at the foot of the mast, sword in hand. He looks away just as Link looses the arrow and avoids the blinding light himself.

He then throws his sword, it embedding in the mast beside Link and Noctis warping to it in a flash. His eyes narrow as he thinks aloud.

"That armor. It's like the Imperial Magitek back home."

Hmmmmm... so far it's looking like more people on the Flotsam end. I'm thinking it might make more sense for Donnie to hang back in Hesaeth too, given how much effort he's been putting in on that side.

1 Soldier-class Feder Armor (Ace Customization Flight) to put a certain imperial mage on equivalent footing, if you please. Zepter armor would be nice, but it's also too fragile to solo.
