EVENT #03: WAR ORDER - EXTERMINATION EXECUTION LOG

The Imperial attack strikes like a thunderclap. In the traditional sense, a Legion is comprised of 1,000 men. In the Imperial reckoning, each individual legion holds a variety of troops - while some may have their own specialties, all legions are formidable and versatile fighting forces.

The legion that sweeps over the mine is an artillery-focused legion. A flight of airships descend upon the mine and starts raining devastation upon the facility. While the mine itself is left intact, an airship with heavy shock troopers lands in front of it, the soldiers immediately entering the mine and sealing off the entrances and exits to preserve the facility and slay all within.

The legion that attacks Flotsam is an Armor Legion, and the flight darkens the skies as carrier airships and a swarm of armors descend upon the floating city. As the Corsairs launch their coordinated counterattack, they know in their hearts that successfully mounting this defense will be among the most difficult things they have ever done.

ALL CORSAIRS

Mine Defense Gunners: Corsairs will need to man the defense arsenal installed in the mines to strike back as much as they can against the Legion, before retreating to safety.
Conflict: The Legion will do their best to destroy all present artillery, characters will need to dodge the shelling.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read MINE DEFENSE GUNNERS.
Region: Hesaeth

Mine Evacuation and Destruction: Corsairs will need to evacuate any remaining personnel to the tunnels before collapsing them, as well as ensuring that the secret of the Corsair submersibles is not given to the Empire.
Conflict: The mine is crawling with Heavy Shock Troopers with orders to kill everyone on sight. Corsairs will need to evade or fight these troopers as they evacuate the final remaining personnel and bring the mine down on their heads.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read either MINE EVACUATION AND DESTRUCTION.
Region: Hesaeth

Defense of Flotsam: Flotsam is under heavy fire from the Legion, they must be fought back here and now. This log can take any number of permutations depending on how a character chooses to fight. All captured Armors will be made available for PC use for this fight, and can be claimed in this thread. All Flotsam airships will also be active in this fight and may be incorporated into the log. Flotsam’s sea ships are all generally armed with a hodgepodge of weaponry which will be utilized in this attack.
Conflict: A Legion is trying to destroy every last ship in the fleet and send you all to the bottom of the Eternal Ocean, and they have the firepower to back this up. The Legion consists of 7 carrier airships and 200 armors, as well as 800 general crew and landing forces. It will take all of the Corsair’s might to beat them back.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read DEFENSE OF FLOTSAM.
Region: Flotsam

Imperial Witch: A young girl with flowing green hair and empty, soulless eyes descends upon Flotsam. Upon her head rests an ornate bronze crown, and her Armor is like a ferocious beast. At her command, fire rises to her call - and she leaves naught but devastation and ash in her wake.
Conflict: This is a villain plot with a PC villain character - up to 4 characters may sign up for this plot on a first-come first-serve basis and the PC Villain will control the flow of the log. In general, the PC Villain will tag after all active participants, or after 24 hours have passed, whichever comes first.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, post in the sign-up thread and tag into the appropriate top level. The first 4 players to sign up may take part, and these players will receive lower priority in the next villain plot until all players have had a turn.
Region: Flotsam

Players will generally have free reign to narrate the event’s occurrences as they wish. For the Execution phase, please refer to the Conflict descriptor to get an idea of the kind of narrative difficulties you will encounter and feel free to make use of them as much or as little as you like to make the thread interesting.

Characters are free to use single large threads or multiple smaller threads to meet the character threshold at the player’s discretion.

If you wish to deploy a Gambit during your mission, in the subject line of the reply you’re using the Gambit in type GAMBIT: [NAME OF GAMBIT]. Using Gambits isn’t required for the success of a thread, but doing so will be taken into account when we factor out the successes and failures of the mission.

Due to the coordinated nature of the attack, characters may only participate in logs in a single select region for this mission as they are occurring simultaneously.

"No, but I can hold my breath for several minutes." Gohan may not be a professional diver, but with how much he's trained his body, his ability to hold his breath isn't too far off, and he looks confident as he says it. He still remembers the time his father used a similar gambit during his fight with Frieza.

"Also, I won't exactly be swimming. It'll be more like I'm flying through the water like I do through the sky, so choppy waters and ocean currents won't throw me off." Gohan thinks on it for a few seconds, and adds, "I have an idea. If something does go wrong in the sea, I'll change direction and fly straight up until I'm back in the air. Also, uh...maybe someone has a homing beacon I can borrow?"

At this point, he's more or less racking his brain to figure out how to make this work with minimal risk.

Shu genuinely has difficulty imagining someone 'flying through water,' but she supposes he has no reason to exaggerate his own abilities. Still, it didn't exactly make sense with the laws of the physical world. As Gohan comes up with ideas to assuage her worries, Shu snaps her fingers.

"Oh! I saw just the thing."

So it is that Gohan finds himself either fleeing from or being shoved into a puffy orange vest with a blinking radio beacon a few minutes later. ...It matches his father's choice of martial arts wear.

"Since you can fly through the water, it should not impede your mobility."

"Hey--" Gohan begins, but he doesn't have a chance to protest before the orange abomination is shoved onto him. Be careful what you wish for...

"Well, I guess I can ditch it once I'm out of the water." He sounds resigned at this point.

It suits his complexion. Probably. Shu nods in approval as she circles around him once to ensure that the vest is in working order.

"I have no more complaints."

Because this is, of course, the main goal that must be satisfied here.

"Safety is always very fetching. ...What, exactly, are your abilities, though?"

"Huh?"

Ah, right. Gohan hasn't told her about his abilities yet. It's been strange to get used to, to not have to hide his abilities in this world. The Corsairs are his allies, not ordinary civilians.

"Ah, um. Well, I'm a martial artist. I..." He trails off for a moment as he tries to figure out how to explain his powers. "I've learned how to control my body's energy, and can use it to strengthen my attacks, to fly, to fire blasts of energy, and even to detect other people's energy."

That's the simplest explanation he can give right now. To get into how it really works, much less his Saiyan heritage, would make this far more complicated.

"Body's... energy?" This is not how energy works in most people, she is pretty sure. "Ah. That does explain your healthy appetite."

This is also not the energy he is talking about, though Shu can't pass up a chance to gently tease.

"Regardless, it sounds as if you are highly gifted. You're talking about something different from the 'ether' of this world, right? We will be relying on your strength."

Gohan grins sheepishly and scratches the back of his head in mild embarrassment. "Ah ha ha, well, um, I'm not the only one back home who could do things like that. I learned a lot of what I have from my dad and his friends."

He conveniently leaves out the fact that he's now stronger than nearly everyone else on Earth, except maybe Vegeta, and that's due more to slacking off on training than anything else.

"And yeah, it's different from the ether of this world. In my world, it was first started about 300 years ago by a martial artist known as Master Mutaito, and his pupils passed it on down for generations."

"Do not be modest. To make good use of your power, we must acknowledge and understand it in its fullest form. Else our strategy will be lacking its full potential. But are you saying this is a skill that can be taught?"

She is duly impressed. The idea of a random citizen learning how to fly by harnessing their body's 'energy' seems unlikely in the extreme.

Gohan contemplates that question. He'd had an edge due to his Saiyan heritage and hidden powers, but there were humans who learned those things.

"I don't know if it can be taught to anyone, but yes, it can be taught. You really have to know martial arts or have a talent for it, I think."

"My brother would be incredibly intrigued. ...He seeks to become the strongest master of martial arts in our world."

He probably already was, but Chongyue didn't really care much for her opinion.

"Unfortunately, that is not my specialty... but perhaps you could teach some of the warriors here to wield such power."

"Huh Y-you think so?" Gohan can't help but feel a little nervous thinking about the idea. He still has some of that natural shyness he's had ever since he was just a child, though he's gotten better about overcoming it.

"I mean, I-I could try? I don't know how good a teacher I'd be, since I'm hardly a master myself."

In time, he will be a great teacher, but from his perspective, Videl hasn't asked him to teach her how to fly yet. The biggest issue is how compatible Gohan's techniques would be with people hailing from other worlds, but there's really only one way to find out.
