EVENT #07: ASPHODEL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT PLANNING

The Corsairs have been mobilized and preparations are underway. As negotiators are dispatched to Vindess to prepare for the evacuation under Imperial noses, the crafters and suppliers set to work, preparing the new settlement and whatever airships can be spared for the evacuation. Some Corsairs have even taken it upon themselves to build or “liberate” more airships for the effort.

As always, when the goal is certain the Corsairs move as one. Together, they will see Asphodel completed. All hands are needed, the question is, where do you lend yours?

MISSIONS

Prepare Asphodel: Get the new settlement of Asphodel up and running to receive the refugees from Vindess.
Priority: Critical
Challenges: Corsairs will need to keep the settlement hidden while also making suitable housing and preparing farms and other amenities to sustain life. It will require a large amount of excavation to get in order, as well as construction of homes, furniture, and other facilities. The work will be backbreaking and the timetable is extremely aggressive.

Prepare Citizens for Evacuation: As the citizens of Vindess toil under Imperial lockdown, the Corsairs must prepare the entire population for evacuation.
Priority: Critical
Recommended Roles: Negotiators and Infiltrators
Challenges: Corsairs will need to convince the entire population to evacuate. There are a number of methods that can be employed, while many are going to be reluctant the Imperial crackdown has shaken the settlement and unease is high. There is evidence within the Imperial offices that Infiltrators can recover that show mass executions with lists of “dissidents” have been scheduled for April which the Corsairs might make use of if they choose to investigate. Other options include capturing potential dissidents and taking the entire willing population while executing or taking prisoner loyalists, or other methods the Corsairs determine for themselves to make this happen.


Acquire Airships: The Corsairs always need more airships, and moving an entire population will require heavy effort and can use as many ships as can be mustered.
Priority: Optional
Recommended Roles: All
Challenges: The Corsairs don’t have the major Ether Stones that serve as the airship engines and will need to either capture or salvage resources to increase the size of their fleet. While the Corsairs have been investigating airships that don’t require Ether stones, that research is still a distant dream, but some Corsairs may want to spend some time pushing that investigation along to see if they can make it a reality sooner rather than later.

"Yeah? Well, maybe we'll do that." Donnie grins, although it falters a little at the mention of Elysium. He's clearly got mixed feelings about the place. "O-oh, okay, sure. I'll keep it on hand."

Be careful what you wish for and all that.

Aira does notice how he hesitates; there's a story there, huh? For another time, maybe, since she isn't going to pry.

"I could ship the clothes, too. But I guess I'd still need to get your guys' measurements." She pauses to consider. "Maybe I should always just keep my tape measure on me...? Hmm, it definitely would fit in my normal bag..."

Donnie blinks, wondering that he was too obvious there, but glad that Aira hasn't asked any questions right then. There's a lot of layers to it, really, and unfortunately his bad experiences there have outweighed any good ones.

"I mean...having something like that on hand doesn't seem like a bad idea in general. Never know when you need to measure things. Anyway, I'll talk to Raph and maybe we'll drop by some time, once we have some downtime."

"Sure. I know how guys are about this kind of stuff, it's not high priority."

She is not above making sweeping generalizations, clearly. With a little hup! Aira hops to her feet. Then she grabs her half-full bottle and uses it to lightly bonk Donnie's forehead.

"Making sure to take breaks is high priority! But yeah, I've got to hand out more of these." She gives him a casual salute. "Thanks for the chat. I didn't mean for it to get all heavy, but I feel better now."

For his time in the Corsairs, Donnie's actually started to appreciate clothing. Aside from getting a lot less stares, it kept you warm especially when the seasons turned colder or you were up in an airship where the atmosphere was generally crisper. But he'd also liked the idea of, well, looking nice... or something of that effect. Comfortable and stylish! While it's no longer winter, he's still concerned about Raph more than himself though, so he means what he says. He'll deal with Elysium for his not!brother's sake!

"Ow!" The bonk hadn't really hurt but it's more out of reflex that he says anything, face scrunching up in a scowl as he rubs his forehead.

"...." It's hard to look annoyed when you're being thanked, and heavy as it had been, Donnie thinks it helped him some as well. Begrudgingly he offers a faint smile back, pulling himself to his own feet.

"You needed a break too," he observes. Not just from water delivery, but other things. "I'm glad. Guess I'll see you around then, Aira."

Well, she'll be happy to see them regardless of when. Not right away is probably better, since the shop has gotten pretty hecking busy as of late. Maybe she'll follow her own advice and slow down a little after all. It would be embarrassing for them to show up at a time when she's too swamped with other work to get them properly fitted.

But, you know, Donnie doesn't necessarily need to hear her say it. Just more of her silly pride at work.

"Maybe, but I'm actually built different." She gives him a reverse wave while heading off. "See ya."
