Event #05: FIREWORKS FOR NEW YEAR EXECUTION LOG

EVENT #05: FIREWORKS FOR NEW YEAR EXECUTION LOG
The time is nearing midnight as New Year revelers mingle, many already quite drunk. The night air is crisp and cold as the Empire prepares a fanfare and fireworks display to ring in the New Year. Concealed among the revelers, cloaked Corsairs fan out, preparing to play their part. The explosives have been set and primed, all that’s needed is to broadcast the message and get out, ideally without losing anybody. Simple, right?
For most of the Empire, the event goes off without a hitch. However, in the mining community of Vindess, and in the Imperial City of Bluvink, the explosions shake the settlements to their foundations. Screams of panic start to spread as the Mine begins collapsing upon itself in Vindess, while the weapon’s facility in Bluvink goes up in flames, albeit surprisingly contained considering the amount of ordnance usually stored within.
Panic erupts into the streets as confused Imperial soldiers spring into action, barking orders and drawing weapons, although they have no idea who caused this. The speakers, placed to play the Emperor’s New Year speech and provide musical accompaniment to the fireworks show, suddenly spring to life. The Corsairs step up to speak, knowing they have little time Imperials track down their signal and re-take control of their communications system, as well as send soldiers to beat down their door.
MISSIONS
Sign-Ups are still open but we will post the current groups as they stand. The following missions are available, you may participate in as many missions as you wish so long as they are in the same region.
There will be three major stages to each log, each receiving their own top level. The final top level, Escape, is open to all characters in the region and can consist of multiple threads or one big singular thread depending on preference. Villain plots will take place during the first two stages. Depending on numbers, if desired players can combine stage 1 and 2 into a singular thread. If combined, the header should read [LOCATION] GUARD AND PROPOGANDA
Bluvink Guard: Heavily armed and armored Imperial Shock Troops, as well as a flight of three Feder Armors will be dispatched to keep the peace and destroy the Corsair group. The Guard group needs to beat or confuse the Shock Troopers during the speech
Conflict: The Shock Troopers will be out in force and will be quickly trying to track down the signal. If Troopers with scanners are left alone they will quickly encircle the broadcasters so the Guard will need to harass or otherwise disrupt the scanning to keep them guessing while the broadcast happens.
Sign-Ups: Nephenee, Yuki
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read BLUVINK GUARD
Region: Bluvink
Villain Plot - Terra:Wearing the Slave Crown and enhanced by the Empire’s boosting drugs, Terra’s consciousness sleeps while her body is used to wreak havoc.
Conflict: Terra will be going directly to the Propogandists as soon as they are identified, and will need to be stopped lest she burn them alive in their hideout.
Sign-Ups: Donatello, Natalia, Deedee, Harlock
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read VILLAIN PLOT - TERRA
Region: Bluvink
Bluvink Propoganda: As the people of Bluvink look on in horror, the propogandists will have to broadcast their message and garner sympathy from the masses.
Conflict: The people of Bluvink lead very comfortable lives in no small part to the factory and the industry and work it brings, losing it, even if no civilians were lost, is going to be a blow to the community. If the propagandists aren’t able to make a compelling argument, the populace’s mood will get ugly fast and they will actively help the soldiers find and eliminate the Corsairs.
Sign-Ups: Atom
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read BLUVINK PROPOGANDA
Region: Bluvink
Bluvink Escape: Once the message is broadcast, the team will need to escape. A disguised airship with two armors (players may choose 2 from the list) stored in the hull will be available for the Corsairs to make their getaway.
Conflict: The guard will be fully mobilized by this point and will likely attempt to give chase in Armors and airships, although they will likely break off when leaving Bluvink airspace.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read BLUVINK ESCAPE
Region: Bluvink
Vindess Guard: The Guard within the mines is much more meager, and with the miners turned to the side of the Corsairs they will be caught considerably more flat-footed. Two Schild Armors will be on standby and may be deployed once the Corsairs are found.
Conflict: The area will be chaotic and the civilians can be expected to be unhelpful at best to the soldiers. While keeping the soldiers off the team is important, what is equally important is ensuring the soldiers don’t turn on the civilians and start making examples of them if they suspect collusion.
Sign-Ups: Ilhpyl, Rezo
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read VINDESS GUARD
Region: Vindess
Vidness Propoganda: While many of the core mining group have turned to the Corsair side, much of the townsfolk may not know of the plan or have misgivings, and still count on the mine for their small town’s income. The atmosphere will be confused and upset.
Conflict: The Vindess community doesn’t have much, but they do have the mine and the consistent profit it brings in. The operation is going to change their lives and they must be convinced that it will be for the better or they may turn on the Corsairs.
Sign-Ups: Renne, Shu, Link, Thomas
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read VINDESS PROPOGANDA
Region: Vindess
Vindess Escape: Once the message is broadcast, the team will need to escape. They will also need to evacuate any of their co-conspirators who are still in the town. A hidden airship with two armors (players may choose 2 from the list) loaded into the hull is available, but by the time the broadcast is finished more guard will be mobilized and they can expect heavier soldier activity, more armors, and airships.
Conflict: While the guard is much weaker and more provincial, they are likely going to attempt to go after civilians for colluding with the Corsairs. The Corsairs will need to quickly evacuate civilians, both co-conspirators and those caught in the crossfire, before they can leave.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read VINDESS ESCAPE
Region: Vindess

BLUVINK ESCAPE
Things still hurt, and it's a wonder he's even able to walk at all. He feels off, a different kind of weary than from pulling several all-nighters, wired by adrenaline, the only fuel keeping him functioning.
Vaguely he can tell the difference once they're aboard, the temperature not too much different inside than out, but overall he still feels cold for all the layers he has on. He stands there just inside the ship while everyone hurries about to make preparations for the departure, a small rock sitting in the middle of a stream of activity.
no subject
While the others carried the unconscious women, he had been carrying Terra until they arrived at the airship.
"Ausch... Scheiße..." He hisses under his breath once he allows someone to take the unconscious woman from him. The pirate looks around, and makes his way to Donnie, noticing how he's shivering with a slight frown, his eye casting around for the medical personnel just in case it was shock.
"How are you holding up?" Nobody was okay after that fight, that much he knows, but he wasn't going to lie down without checking first.
no subject
How's he supposed to respond to that? He's not even sure how he's remaining upright when he feels like he could fall apart at any given second, shaking like a leaf in the wind.
Alarms blare just as the airship begins to take off, the loading hatch drawing closed as activity starts to become more frenetic as Corsairs rush to their stations, shouting about enemy airships on approach.
no subject
"Damn!" He pivots on his heels as Corsairs rushed around him. "Tell me what I need to do, what cannons might need manned?" He asked, much as he aches, he can't simply just stand by.
no subject
"We need to keep the Imps off our tail. Got enough manning the cannons, but we need someone out there to keep their Armors from getting too close." The Corsair addressing Harlock hesitates, perhaps only then noticing their current state. "Can you pilot?"
He thumbs back at two frames, kneeling and ready to launch, backup that they'd hoped they wouldn't have to make use of.
no subject
Well, if he let Daiba go in a Space Wolf green, he can't exempt himself from the same kind of risk with an armor.
no subject
"I'll go with him."
The turtlekin speaks up, trying to look more confident than he feels, but he knows Harlock can't be feeling too much better than he's feeling right now. Maybe between the two of them they can pull this off.
no subject
Harlock gave a sharp nod to him of acknowledgement - and appreciation. It's certainly not his ideal circumstance, but they have a ship and comrades to protect, and really, it's not that much different from piloting one of the Space Wolves, he just need to get used to the differences.
Fast.
no subject
Donnie draws in a slow breath, nodding back at Harlock. They have an objective, which is ultimately better than being left untethered, dealing with whatever emotions were swirling in the aftermath of their previous fight. He clings to it desperately, at the very least no longer looking lost. He needs to help his fellow Corsairs, help Harlock. He...he can do this.
"Let's go," he says, barely catching himself from a stumble as he moves for the Armors. "We'll use the Feder."

"Donnie, are you okay?" he asks. "Maybe you should sit down for a minute."
no subject
Okay? To Donnie's credit, he doesn't even try to mask that, why should he? The experience had been awful, 'okay' doesn't seem to be an option anyone who'd been involved should give so freely. He gives a stiff shake of his head, as though the mere admission might make him have to relive it again.
Sitting...would probably be good. His throat's so dry as his attempt to speak comes out more than a little gummy. "Y-yeah," he winces.
no subject
Atom gently reaches to touch a guiding hand on the back of Donnie's shell, hoping it's less injured than his skin, trying to point him in the direction of the boxes against the wall, any of which should work as an impromptu seat. He offers up an arm, in case Donnie could use some extra support while walking.
no subject
Donnie lets himself be guided along, trying to focus on putting one foot in front of the other, keeping his hands withdrawn against himself. The insides of his palms and fingers hurt from when his metal staff had gotten too hot. Once they're by the boxes, he winces as he sinks down slowly to sit on one of the ones not stacked so high.
no subject
"Your hands," Atom blurts out in concern when he gets a look at them. He winces, both at the injury and his words. He doubts Donnie needs someone to remind him; it looks like it would be a painful wound, based on what Atom knows second hand about pain. First aid hadn't covered much on the topic; he had learned the hard way from the injured humans he met in a warzone back home several years ago.
"Let me get you some cool water. It should help with the pain."
no subject
Water sounds good though, just in general. Maybe because he'd just gotten nearly cooked? That'd probably explain why he feels so dried out. Donnie nods numbly, looking like he'd nod off all too easily just sitting there.
no subject
When he returns, Donnie looks about ready to faint. Could he be in shock? In too much pain to feel it correctly and about to collapse from it? He unscrews the cap of the canteen and pours some of the water onto the towels.
"Donnie. Here, let me see your hands," he says to him. "I've got a canteen if you want a drink too."
no subject
Donnie starts slightly at Atom's voice upon his return, head jerking up, eyes trying to refocus. Mechanically he holds his hands out, even as he eyes the canteen thirstily.

Re: BLUVINK ESCAPE
"Good news, bad news. Bad news, the Imperials are bringing their bigger stuff out. Good news, it's because most of the smaller stuff from the west is down. So, er, mind if I hitch a ride? And then properly join up with the Corsairs."
no subject
The girl doesn't look at all familiar, and while Donnie can't be sure how much of the truth she's actually telling, he really at this point is all for letting someone else take care of it. Still he grimaces; not that he's entirely surprised that the Imperials are after them, but he'd hoped for more time. Then again he's not sure how long it's been since...everything. Either way, they need to go.
"Yeah, whatever, hurry up!" he blurts, the rear loading hatch already making to close. They can't linger much longer if the Empire's already moving.
no subject
"Kaitlyn Saunders, non-local Imperial disliker. My powers are... Not great against big stuff, but do lemme climb surfaces or... Well. I'll figure that out on the fly I guess."
She doesn't seem weirded out by the talking turtle dude.
"Airships are actually new to me," she admits after a second.
no subject
"Non-local... you mean like from another world?" Did she escape the Empire somehow? Well, he supposes it's not unheard of to have defectors either way.
"Topside," Donnie says, willing his limbs to move as he jerkily starts for the stairs. "Up to the main deck." There they'll be able to see how close the Imperials are. The airship thrums, the telltale signs of it starting to lift. Donnie has to grab onto the railing to keep his balance, normally this wouldn't be a problem but he's still running on the fumes of adrenaline.
no subject
"... You were in that fight," she realizes. "I... Only saw some of it from a distance."
no subject
"...yeah," he says, keeping his attention stolidly forward. His clothing is singed from being nearly fried pointblank from a fire spell of some sort, weariness still influencing his movements. Donnie's sure that if he stopped and sat down he'd never be able to get up and help any time soon. They're not clear yet, he can't...
no subject
She legitimately doesn't know. But she does know that too much forcing it could create permanent injuries.
Which just kind of reminds her that that's a risk she now needs to consider, too. Not a great feeling, that.
no subject
Donnie knows she's right, but if they're short-handed, none of them were going to get very far if the Imperials managed to catch up. Stubbornly he clambers up a couple more steps.
"Not sure who else is on board," he admits. That means by way of medics. "-probably got their hands full already." Deedee and Natalia had been in worse shape, and the mage they'd been fighting, unconscious.
He can still move, if barely. Deedee had pulled a quick heal on him, which had taken care of the worst of the burns, but whatever Terra had done had left him weak and somehow felt like it sunk deep into his being.
(Sorry for delay.)
