EVENT #02: A MAN OF WORTH EXECUTION PHASE

At the appointed time, a lavish fleet of airships begin to descend upon the islands of Elysium. Departing from the Maikrecht port, the heraldry on the central ship marks a noble general of extreme renown. His airship is surrounded by 3 other airships in a protective triangular formation, as well as a flight of 2 Zepter and 3 Feder armors. As they descend, the Flotsam fleet set sails, hoisting black flags as one over every single ship in the fleet. Flotsam has but 4 functional airships to their name, and all are present today as they take flight. As the airships climb in altitude, the Flotsam fleet begins firing upon the escort group from below.

It is above this salvo of cannon fire that the Corsairs begin to board. Descending on the escort airships via glider, they have but one goal - destroy the ships. Meanwhile, a smaller strike force quietly descends on the main ship with their own mission: secure the VIP and get him out alive.

CORE MISSIONS

Attack the Ships:Combatants will need to attack and sink the 3 escort ships and armor escorts, as well as ensure the elimination of any soldier within the escort party.
Conflicts: The fighting will be bitter, with lots of powerful soldiers. There are 3 Feder and 2 Zepter armors that will need to be contended with, the Feder Armors carrying gattling guns and the Zepter armors piloted by powerful lightning mages. The soldiers manning the ships are elite, and cannot be easily dispatched.
Requirements: To participate in this mission, your thread header should read ATTACK THE SHIPS.

Capture the VIP:Infiltrators will need to sneak aboard the main ship and capture the VIP. The man himself is an aging noble in rich robes and with graying hair who goes by the title of Lord Gundhir. They will need to capture and subdue him, as well as get him off his ship and onto a Corsair vessel.
Conflicts: Lord Gundhir is not a fighter, but he won’t come easily. Additionally, he is accompanied by his son, Adolfus Gundhir, who is a powerful warrior known for fighting with a massive greatsword. While the private and sumptuous appointed quarters the two nobles are in aren’t great terrain for using the greatsword, the younger Gundhir is an extremely accomplished warrior and if encountered directly will take the combined might of the entire team to threaten.

i. Approach
The bombardment has begin; artillery from the fleet below firing upon the Empire ships. But the airships still need to get higher - until that happens, the combatants can't yet use their gliders to join the fray.

They have to wait, even as chaos reigns around them. But the waiting doesn't last forever - because soon enough, the skyship draws close.

"Go!" cries the Corsair navigator, gesturing towards the waiting combatants.

Link does not need to be told twice. He opens up his glider, and launches himself into the air.

ii. Battle time
As chaos reigns upon the deck of the Empire escort ship, Link is in the middle of the fray. With his sword and shield drawn, Link is fighting like a wildcat.

But the Empire soldiers are tough, and several of them have managed to surround Link. For a moment, it looks like Link might be in real trouble.

...At least until he holds out his sword and spins, the blade whirling around him in a wide circle.

"Hyah!" he yells, as he strikes all of the soldiers surrounding him.

iii. Bombs ahoy
In the middle of the battle, Link has ended up not up on the deck but on the side of the ship, clinging to the edge. From the outside, it likely looks precarious and unplanned - but this is actually exactly where Link wants to be.

Because from here he can reach the gunports. Climb right over to them. Tosses in one of his newly recovered bomb flowers.

And then climbs away as fast as he can, before the flower goes...

BOOM!

((OOC: I figure someone may as well kick this one off! I'm not sure how people want to do this, if we're keeping it one big thread or if people will find it easier to do it in parts- although that might get hairy once they actually get to their target. Any takers on who wants to NPC? Otherwise I guess I'll do my best...ANYWAY))

With the other Corsairs harrying the escorting ships to the best of their abilities, it's relatively easy to take advantage of the resulting chaos. Donnie's already given the basic rundown of what to expect of the main ship's layout, not too different from standard airships but there are definitely specialized quarters and larger areas to cross. Not to mention the security detail, but Donnie assures that he can take care of most of that problem.

He's had a lot to think about since the taking of Hesaeth, and for the most part still wants to avoid killing anyone if at all possible. The less direct engagements they have to make, the better. Block what external vents they can after popping in a few specialized smokeless 'bombs' of a sort, let the burning plant fumes do their work and then slip on in.

"Make sure your masks are on, just in case," Donnie quietly reminds those with him, even as he checks his own. According to his calculations, by now it should have burned off the most potent part by now, but it's better not to take any chances. The guards were hopefully unconscious or compromised that they could make their way to where their target would likely be without too much complication.

Harlock's foot is perched on the rail of the ship, holding onto a line as he observes the incoming fleet - noting their numbers and position, a quiet tension running through his body - energy searching for an outlet. Being up in the sky isn't like being in the sea of stars, but the winds whipping around him is rather exhilarating.

For a moment, he tears his eye away from the fleet to look at the other Corsairs ready to board, noting Ziel standing out thanks to his horns, assessing their readiness - before he could betray his thoughts on what he saw, a bell starts clanging near the bow, and a voice yelling:

"Brace yourselves! We're picking up speed! Closing distance on ship two in thirty seconds!"

"Those armors might be a problem if they try to get in the way," Harlock finally spoke as he steps back, planting his feet firmly on deck. "But - I think we are all used to dealing with problems."

[1: Before the Battle]

Gohan stands on the deck of one airship near the bow, arms crossed and watching the enemy formation get closer. Rather than wear his casual clothing again this time, he's dressed in a new ensemble -- a deep blue martial arts gi, with a red belt, wristbands, and legbands, and black shoes. He could fly straight at them right now, but he feels it's better to conserve energy and attack with the rest of the Corsairs.

But that doesn't mean he can't get ready. For this, Gohan knows he's going to need to go harder than he did during the rescue mission. He sees the armors, and recalls the one he faced at the labor camp being obviously too heavy to fly. These are flying, though, which raises a few questions as to their composition. If nothing else, they should be more agile than the one he has already faced, which means he needs more speed to compensate.

As the time draws closer, he builds energy. Then, in a flash, his body changes. His hair suddenly changes colors from black to gold, and his dark eyes turn a greenish-blue. The change also generates a visible aura of energy around his body, though he lets that fade briefly.

"I'll focus on the armors. Since they can fly, I'm our best weapon against them."

[2: During the Battle]

[a]
The armors have managed to split up, and Gohan by himself can't handle all of them. Thankfully, the Corsairs' airships and their cannon fire has helped impede what they can do. One armor, however, manages to break through the suppression fire of the cannons and attempts to make a run on the airships.

"Oh, no you don't!" A bright gold ball of light streaks through the sky and flies back toward the Corsairs' airships to intercept the armor that broke through. It comes to a stop between the armor and the lead airship, revealing Gohan surrounded by a bright gold aura.

"You'll have to go through me to get to our airships!"

[b]
Alternately, maybe an airship is bearing down on the decks of one of the enemy airships. It begins to open fire with its gatling gun, only to be interrupted by Gohan flying in and throwing the armor's aim off. He places a palm on the connecter of the gun to the armor's arm, then fires a blast of energy through it. The gun falls away and plummets to the waves far below them.

"Not on my watch!"

[3: Destruction]

At this point, there is only one airship left still in the skies. The Corsairs are now withdrawing to their own airships, with Gohan covering their withdrawal. However, he stays behind, and rising into the air, shouts a warning to the airship's crew.

"HEY! If you don't want to go down with this ship, you'd better start making your way to the lifeboats RIGHT NOW!"

Gohan doesn't even know if Imperial airships even have lifeboats, but better safe than sorry. He'd rather not kill anyone he doesn't have to.

Regardless, Gohan then flies off the ship and into the skies above, out of reach of enemy gunfire. He then lets loose a loud yell, and the energy surrounding him expands tremendously. There are subtle changes to his hair, and his aura begins to crackle with electricity. Making sure to keep a rein on his anger, Gohan gets in position and pulls his hands back.

"Kaaa...meee...haaa...meee..."

A concentrated ball of energy forms between Gohan's hands, then he thrusts them forward.

"HAAAAAA!"

From Gohan's hands erupts a huge beam of energy, at least as long in diameter as Gohan is tall. The beam flies straight at the enemy airship, blowing away its masts and plunging into the ship's structure. The entire stern section of the ship is completely blown away, rendered into splinters and other small debris that begins its long fall down to the surface. Now unable to fly, the enemy airship begins its own final descent toward a watery grave.

Gohan takes a deep breath and allows himself to revert back to his normal form. At this point, he's pretty low on energy, so he flies just fast enough to make it back to the Corsairs' airships.

[4: Aftermath]

Gohan can be found sitting cross-legged on the deck, his back leaning against the ship's railing. He has a bottle of water in his hands -- not enough on its own to help him recover, but enough to get him back to Flotsam so he can eat a proper meal. Should anyone approach that he knows, Gohan will raise his water bottle at them and offer a smile.

"Hey."
