Event #11: WE RULE THE SEAS MISSION LOG
With the Flotsam fleet now occupying the Fallen Isles, they have access to port facilities for the first time since the Fleet’s inception. With many of the nobles convinced to “take a trip to Elysium” leaving their houses unattended for the Corsairs to capture, giving them access to additional resources that allow them to patch up and reinforce the fleet and fill their bellies in a way they haven’t been able to before.
This is fortuitous, since as expected, the occupation of the Fallen Isles has painted a target on them. With the Flotsam fleet now gathered and docked in one place, the Empire quickly musters two Legions with the intent to storm the Fallen Isles and, in their minds, destroy the Corsairs once and for all.
And it is in this moment that the Skysplitters roar, and their thundering barrage begins to tear apart the descending airships as they enter the airspace of the Fallen Isles. And in the din of Imperial panic, the Corsairs strike.
Consequences
The casualties incurred and the personal injuries incurred will depend on the Corsair involvement. The first three missions will all feed into the general casualty rate of the operation, whereas the final two will result in personal injuries if Corsairs take place, as well as increasing casualty rates if unsuccessful.
These consequences will be combined over several logs to determine the final result.
Log Leader
All logs outside Tend the Injured are eligible for a Log Leader. If selected, that leader will receive additional details on the prompt via PM, like NPC weapon details. Log leaders are optional, especially for the first two prompts.
MISSIONS
Flight of the Black Wings: The Corsairs fly up to meet and destroy whatever airships survive the initial Skysplitter assault
Status: Open
Description:The Black Wings are a powerful fleet of reaver airships that are renowned for quick, punishing assaults. The Black Wings have carved enormous losses from the Corsairs over the year. Today, the Corsairs fly to meet them.
The Black Wings will suffer most under the assault of the Skysplitters, suffering heavy losses in their vulnerable descent. They will attempt to blast the fleet apart and sink any Corsair ships that rises to oppose them.
Current Participants: Natalia, Donnie
(Optional) Log Leader: None
Needed Participants: 2 for success, 3 for ideal success
Descent of the Steel Soldiers: The Corsairs will have to repel the more agile armor squadron that has joined the assault.
Status: Open
Description:The Steel Soldiers are often deployed alongside the Black Wings to serve as armored assault units. Trained for aerial combat, they serve as support for the major airship forces and their speed is frequently employed to chase down and sink fleeing Corsairs.
While the Skysplitters will inflict damage on the Legion, their agility will make them much harder to target and hit, meaning the Corsairs will need to sortie to repel them.
Current Participants: Atom, Raphael, Kanna, Renne
(Optional) Log Leader: None
Needed Participants: 2 for success, 3 for positive success, 4 for ideal success.
Tend the Wounded: The Corsairs will need to quickly triage the wounded and get them to safety.
Status: Open
Description: The battle is expected to be bloody, and the Corsairs expect the toll to be high. Keeping an active field clinic will be crucial if they want to minimize casualties and turn aside life-threatening injuries.
Those tending the wounded can expect to be constantly busy fighting off death and permanent injury.
Current Participants: Ilphyl, Matt, Shu, Tau
Log Leader: Not needed
Needed Participants: 2 for success, 3 for positive success, 4 for ideal success. Additional contributors may soften the penalties in other areas. Gods will provide additional benefit.
Clip the Black Wings: The Corsairs will need to board and bring down the capital ship of the Black Wings.
Status: Closed
Description: Ewan Gringoire, illustrious Captain of the Black Wings, is a former slaver who “went legit” and became a Privateer in service of the Empire. In his slaver life he tangled with the Corsairs on more than one occasion and was known to capture them for the Empire’s unquenchable thirst for free labor.
Ewan is a skilled pilot with the fastest ship in the Empire, shooting him down is not especially feasible and boarding is next to impossible. This will be an enormous challenge for the Corsairs to accomplish
Current Participants: Harlock, Natalia, Shu, Renne
Log Leader: Shu
Needed Participants: 3 for success with the target escaping, 4 for success with the target being killed. A participating god can make this into an ideal success, but will receive a curse. Injury is almost guaranteed for taking part in this mission.
Shatter the Steel Soldier: The Corsairs will need to bring down the Bloodstained Comet Singe Madillon.
Status: Closed
Description:Singe Madillon is a peerless ace pilot who has a legendary number of confirmed kills. His custom Feder unit painted in his blood red color is said to be able to move 3 times as fast as a normal Feder, and he is one of the few who can withstand the incredible G-force it generates.
The Corsairs will need to find a way to surround, entrap, and ultimately shoot down his armor before it can cause too much damage.
Current Participants: Raphael, Atom, Donnie, Kanna
Log Leader: Atom
Needed Participants: 3 for success with the target escaping, 4 for success with the target being killed. A participating god can make this into an ideal success, but will receive a curse. Injury is almost guaranteed for taking part in this mission.

He drains the rest of his water. "No? It's my usual assignment. Although situations like this usually call for more direct methods than what can be done with herbs and bandages," he sighs. That'll be more exhausting but if he can keep people from bleeding out, it'll be worth it.

Date: 2025-07-14 10:49 pm (UTC)well now she knows what to do if Tau ever gets too snarky“That is unfortunate. I hope there is some sort of warning before anything untoward begins to happen.”
She couldn’t imagine what that might be, but then, she couldn’t imagine being linked to a stationary tree, either.
“Is this body… a sort of projection, then?”
no subject
Date: 2025-07-15 03:12 am (UTC)"More or less," he replies with a nod, flexing the fingers of his free hand. "But then even before I was gifted more range, I've always been able to manifest a corporeal form, so maybe projection isn't quite the word for it."

Date: 2025-07-15 01:05 pm (UTC)"One spirit in two bodies."
Shu ought to understand this, given she is one spirit in twelve bodies. But their consciousnesses have diverged so far that she cannot wholly remember being a part of the one anymore, even if her current consciousness is, strictly speaking, a phantasm.
"And do you heal much like I do, then? With the vitality of the earth and the growth that lies dormant in seeds."
no subject
Date: 2025-07-15 06:18 pm (UTC)Tau pauses at that before he offers a shrug. He's not even really sure how it works himself.
"Hm... Maybe not quite so," he says as he turns to drift towards one of the nearby cots to help someone with some bandaging. "The vitality of the earth, certainly. Being around nature itself helps. Mostly, I can get by with a good amount of rest."
no subject
Date: 2025-07-18 01:48 pm (UTC)She understands after a moment.
"Ah, apologies. I mean... the magic or Arts that you use to heal others. Not that I am not concerned for your well-being, but I was referring back to our, ah... current preoccupation. My talents lie in encouraging the natural growth of life - one might call it cellular regeneration. But it is difficult to explain.
"I was wondering to what extent we are similar."
no subject
Date: 2025-07-19 06:46 pm (UTC)Tau snorts, cleaning off his hands before moving onto the next injury to check.
"Regeneration is part of it. Organic bodies are actually pretty impressive when it comes to repairing itself. I just encourage some stimulation of the natural ability, mostly for those deeper injuries."
no subject
Date: 2025-07-20 12:46 pm (UTC)In understandable terms, anyway. A change in cellular programming unpowered by Arts, in some way a restructuring of reality.
"Perhaps I would say that the repair is a requirement of life - the miracle being the matter of life itself. To exist in this world means to suffer injury. To persist means that it must be borne and repaired. And yet you must understand that better than many of us, for you will persist the longest of all."
Trees had a habit of outliving the rest of the biosphere.
"What I am struck by when I perform these duties is how little time it gives back, in the end."

Date: 2025-07-20 09:52 pm (UTC)"It's true though. But I guess it's still something more than what someone might otherwise have lost access to."
Tau holds his hands over another patient, soaked bandages making it clear that the bleeding hasn't stopped. A soft glow envelopes him as he applies his own healing.

Date: 2025-07-22 09:16 am (UTC)"The god of the underworld here -- that man with the glasses." She means Matthew Murdock. "He said that he cannot intervene in direct offensive battles, but he is free to defend us as he wishes. He said it was different, in some manner. But if we intervene in the natural state of what humans do unto each other, it is still a type of divine intervention, no?
"In that regard, I wish there were more of a miracle I could create."
no subject
Date: 2025-07-22 07:54 pm (UTC)"Gods must have some strange rules to abide by. But I guess to some extent he has to keep some form of neutrality, representing what he does."
He lets out a breath, picking at the ends of the bandage to start unwrapping it so he can clean things off and rewrap it with something fresh. "If you could, what sort of miracle would you be thinking of?"
no subject
Date: 2025-07-23 04:06 am (UTC)“So perhaps that is no miracle at all. In my home, there is no room for miracles. But here, things seem less nuanced, somehow. There is a black and white. I would ask simply for an end to this conflict - to this regime. With all the need for new governance that entails.
“Easier said than done.”
Shu ignored the moans of pain from beneath her as she takes hold of a needle and begins to stitch a gaping wound shut. This was too much when for rapid regeneration.

Date: 2025-07-23 04:23 am (UTC)"I think...it's the mindset of people that would need to be changed before anyone can benefit from a good miracle of abundance. I think that even without that sort of miracle, things would change drastically.
"But as you say, easier said than done."
no subject
Date: 2025-07-24 02:34 am (UTC)“That would be a miracle indeed.”
Her response is soft.
“But if I were to change the minds of the people, to shape them in some particular way… would that still be a miracle? Or would it be a calamity? I would say, it is for the good of the humans and their society… but any despot would say the same. So a miracle that alters the essence of humanity - their selfishness, their greed, their short sighted nature… would it also destroy their capacity for goodness and altruism? Is it righteousness if I force them to behave in the way I deem best?
“Ah, you are not wrong. Always, it is the nature of humanity that is the barrier. And always, I decide that I can only give what guidance I can.”
no subject
Date: 2025-07-24 03:48 am (UTC)He cleans his hands off again, grimacing as he hears the moans well before someone else is brought in.
"People just need to know how to respect. The land, forces of nature, each other..." he murmurs, turning to start clearing room for the newcomer. "It seems easier for them to come to the conclusion that things must be overcome."

Date: 2025-07-25 01:48 am (UTC)It’s not clear if she means her own world or Esthere, though perhaps it amounts to the same.
“At least, I do not foresee it happening in my lifetime.” Though Tau probably doesn’t know she means that literally, in the sense of her divination. “But I do not always read the signs accurately. Tau… why did your ancestor pass the role on to you? Did something in particular spur this change?”
no subject
Date: 2025-07-25 03:43 am (UTC)"...I think it's how their kind would continue their sort of line. But I was told that they wanted me to have a chance, find an existence away from any threat of something like what the Empire is that brought them here in the first place." Tau snorts. "A lot of good that did. But at least this way I can actually do something and try to help make that a reality."
no subject
Date: 2025-07-26 02:51 pm (UTC)She considers this for a moment as she bends over a washbasin to clean her hands. In most situations, healers would be worried about infection, but Shu has never seemed to get ill and it is possible she is incapable of sustaining microbial life. She does not question it too much.
"What would you be doing if this war was not all-consuming? You are a being separate from humanity. How would you influence them? Or would you not?"
no subject
Date: 2025-07-26 06:56 pm (UTC)Tau falls silent as he sets to work, a lot of small injuries, but in total would make things no less severe. He cleans them as he studies which would be the worst that would need immediate addressing.
"I would have been fine simply maintaining a safe forest. We're protectors. The most I might offer is safe passage for people who might pass through unless they were there to trouble what lives there."
