Event #11: WE RULE THE SEAS MISSION LOG

With the Flotsam fleet now occupying the Fallen Isles, they have access to port facilities for the first time since the Fleet’s inception. With many of the nobles convinced to “take a trip to Elysium” leaving their houses unattended for the Corsairs to capture, giving them access to additional resources that allow them to patch up and reinforce the fleet and fill their bellies in a way they haven’t been able to before.

This is fortuitous, since as expected, the occupation of the Fallen Isles has painted a target on them. With the Flotsam fleet now gathered and docked in one place, the Empire quickly musters two Legions with the intent to storm the Fallen Isles and, in their minds, destroy the Corsairs once and for all.

And it is in this moment that the Skysplitters roar, and their thundering barrage begins to tear apart the descending airships as they enter the airspace of the Fallen Isles. And in the din of Imperial panic, the Corsairs strike.

Consequences
The casualties incurred and the personal injuries incurred will depend on the Corsair involvement. The first three missions will all feed into the general casualty rate of the operation, whereas the final two will result in personal injuries if Corsairs take place, as well as increasing casualty rates if unsuccessful.

These consequences will be combined over several logs to determine the final result.

Log Leader
All logs outside Tend the Injured are eligible for a Log Leader. If selected, that leader will receive additional details on the prompt via PM, like NPC weapon details. Log leaders are optional, especially for the first two prompts.

MISSIONS

Flight of the Black Wings: The Corsairs fly up to meet and destroy whatever airships survive the initial Skysplitter assault
Status: Open
Description:The Black Wings are a powerful fleet of reaver airships that are renowned for quick, punishing assaults. The Black Wings have carved enormous losses from the Corsairs over the year. Today, the Corsairs fly to meet them.

The Black Wings will suffer most under the assault of the Skysplitters, suffering heavy losses in their vulnerable descent. They will attempt to blast the fleet apart and sink any Corsair ships that rises to oppose them.
Current Participants: Natalia, Donnie
(Optional) Log Leader: None
Needed Participants: 2 for success, 3 for ideal success

Descent of the Steel Soldiers: The Corsairs will have to repel the more agile armor squadron that has joined the assault.
Status: Open
Description:The Steel Soldiers are often deployed alongside the Black Wings to serve as armored assault units. Trained for aerial combat, they serve as support for the major airship forces and their speed is frequently employed to chase down and sink fleeing Corsairs.

While the Skysplitters will inflict damage on the Legion, their agility will make them much harder to target and hit, meaning the Corsairs will need to sortie to repel them.
Current Participants: Atom, Raphael, Kanna, Renne
(Optional) Log Leader: None
Needed Participants: 2 for success, 3 for positive success, 4 for ideal success.

Tend the Wounded: The Corsairs will need to quickly triage the wounded and get them to safety.
Status: Open
Description: The battle is expected to be bloody, and the Corsairs expect the toll to be high. Keeping an active field clinic will be crucial if they want to minimize casualties and turn aside life-threatening injuries.

Those tending the wounded can expect to be constantly busy fighting off death and permanent injury.
Current Participants: Ilphyl, Matt, Shu, Tau
Log Leader: Not needed
Needed Participants: 2 for success, 3 for positive success, 4 for ideal success. Additional contributors may soften the penalties in other areas. Gods will provide additional benefit.

Clip the Black Wings: The Corsairs will need to board and bring down the capital ship of the Black Wings.
Status: Closed
Description: Ewan Gringoire, illustrious Captain of the Black Wings, is a former slaver who “went legit” and became a Privateer in service of the Empire. In his slaver life he tangled with the Corsairs on more than one occasion and was known to capture them for the Empire’s unquenchable thirst for free labor.

Ewan is a skilled pilot with the fastest ship in the Empire, shooting him down is not especially feasible and boarding is next to impossible. This will be an enormous challenge for the Corsairs to accomplish
Current Participants: Harlock, Natalia, Shu, Renne
Log Leader: Shu
Needed Participants: 3 for success with the target escaping, 4 for success with the target being killed. A participating god can make this into an ideal success, but will receive a curse. Injury is almost guaranteed for taking part in this mission.

Shatter the Steel Soldier: The Corsairs will need to bring down the Bloodstained Comet Singe Madillon.
Status: Closed
Description:Singe Madillon is a peerless ace pilot who has a legendary number of confirmed kills. His custom Feder unit painted in his blood red color is said to be able to move 3 times as fast as a normal Feder, and he is one of the few who can withstand the incredible G-force it generates.

The Corsairs will need to find a way to surround, entrap, and ultimately shoot down his armor before it can cause too much damage.
Current Participants: Raphael, Atom, Donnie, Kanna
Log Leader: Atom
Needed Participants: 3 for success with the target escaping, 4 for success with the target being killed. A participating god can make this into an ideal success, but will receive a curse. Injury is almost guaranteed for taking part in this mission.

The Corsairs had already left quite the mark on the Imperial fleet when those flying in Imperial Armor break away. Were they making a retreat? The Corsairs were leaving little room for them to break through to their ships. Atom watches them withdraw through through the visor of a dented helmet he had borrowed to just barely conceal his form. In their wake a bright red armor flies forward with a rapier shaped weapon burning bright with ether.

They had been warned about the Bloodstained Comet and its pilot Singe Madillon, and Atom wastes no time calling over the comms to the nearest Corsairs. "I see the Comet! He's headed right towards me!"

Singe flies at a speed slow for what he's known for, shouting over a speaker in his armor. Trust an Imperial leader to make sure they can make speeches from the safety of their full body weapon. "Well, well, today you've all put on a show worth a flight! Might as well start with the runt of the pack!" He picks up speed and Atom hurries to fly out of his path. Singe takes a swipe at Atom's feet and nearly makes contact, blade sparking for a second after the contact with the rocket flames.

Singe laughs. "Didn't know they were making armors in halfling size! Maybe I'll put it on my shelf later- if it isn't in too many pieces."

"Didn't know they made Feders in 'large ham', either, but I guess here we are," comes an all-too familiar voice over the vox. She's a little dented from having to hold the line for the Skysplitters below, but there's no way that the Red Drachen Custom isn't immediately recognizable-- just as his own Crimson Feder identifies him.

"How's that going, by the way? I don't think I've seen a bit player steal so much spotlight since that time the kid decided hers was the leading role."

Thankfully he's not tired out yet, but Donnie's not sure whether it's dread or eagerness that he feels upon hearing Atom's report. They'd known the Comet was around somewhere, but it figures he's showing himself now.

"I see him," the turtlekin says, not that it's difficult when the guy's Armor is so distinctly colored.

"Hang on back there," he says, switching frequencies only briefly so he can address his brother. Who is, of all things, outside on the back of Donnie's Feder. "Going to close in."

He boosts his Feder forth, trusting his not!brother to secure himself. "Head's up, Atom!" Donnie shouts before giving him some cover fire to try getting Singe to break off his attack on the little robot.

"Copy that," Raph shouts over his side of the frequency shared with Donnie, gripping onto the back of the Feder as the wind whips the tattered ends of his bandana around wildly when Donnie hits the boost.

The blood red of Singe's armor draws the attention wanted in a scenario like this. His brother has the right idea of laying down cover to give Atom the buffer he needs, but it looks like Kanna is going for the angle he has in mind:

Operation: Punch Singe In The Face

One hand loosens its grip, swinging his arm back so that Raph can summon his mystic energy. The red glow encapsulates, exaggerated in its size as its fist mimics the fist he forms physically. In a way, it's like jousting. Except with a Feder instead of a horse and a giant, elongated red mystic fist instead of a wooden lance.

When they are within range, he times it right, pulling back and punching forth, yelling at the top of his lungs.

"HOT SOUP!"

Singe laughs, perhaps in disbelief at the entrance of Kanna and her red armor. "Isn't that the pot calling the kettle red?" He turns his rapier at the ready towards her. She at least might make an interesting opponent, assuming it's the real thing in the armor. "I've earned my rank. How much of your skill is acting and the exaggeration of gossip, I wonder!"

Atom flies overhead, where he has a good view of all three allies and Singe. Behind the helmet his eyes glow as he scans the Blood Stained Comet. Singe is bright with energy like a mage mid-battle. Atom summons sparks to his hands, in hopes of providing some cover for the others. He can't help fretting, watching Raph go at it without a flying vehicle or device of his own.

Raph and Donnie charge the Comet, and Singe makes a graceful roll out of the way before uprighting himself again, still facing in Kanna's direction. Atom sends some small shocks at the Comet, but he evades those as well with leans that are just out of the path. "Tell your friends to come back when they have the kind of ether levels that catch my attention," he says to Kanna, as four small drones separate from his armor and circle in the air around him at his command. "-Before I decide not to be so generous."

"Well, I'm not dead, for starters, so mark that on your bingo card." Kanna says, keeping an eye on those bits. Those are pretty obviously the secret to his vaunted speed-- after all, who needs to keep up with three or four opponents? "Interesting little puppet show."

One, two, three, four. She's gotten more skilled at manipulating small pieces of earth at high speeds as she's gone, and now it's time to see if she can get them to pierce the armor on those bits.

Donnie can only see so much outside, but he can't help for a laugh as he sees that obscenely huge fist. He has absolutely no idea why Raph's talking about soup at a time like this but he's swept up in the energy behind it.

Unfortunately they don't even come close to Singe. The Turtlekin grates his teeth.

"Ugh, I need more speed, but I can't do anything when I've got you hanging on, Raph. We're going to have to give you your own propulsion..."

Parallel to his Feder, that bright neon light that's trademark of Donnie's magic flares, tracing out lines to form....some kind of platform? With.... are those...rockets? Of some kind? If Link were present he'd recognize the design as inspired from whatever images he had shared with Donnie, but the rocket parts are more like the thrusters of the flying kit of Armor suits.

"Can't blame a guy for tryin'!" Raph spits back, watching their target roll with expert maneuvering.

His brow furrows as he lets the giant arm dissolve, glancing over to Donnie with an agreeable grunt. "I get it, these things weren't meant to be two seaters. Maybe I can jump some other guy for theirs— "

Raph's video game strategy poof when his brother starts creating a rocket board out of thin air.

Well. He can work with that.

The snaggle-toothed grin reappears as he leaps off of the Feder, landing onto it with little issue. It's like riding a skateboard back at home, except this has more throttle attached like the experimental taxi cab they had on the turtle tank. "We'll keep this up for as long as we can," he says to his teammates over their shared frequency in passing, weaving his way around to get Singe's attention. "Donnie, if you start gettin' tired, don't be afraid drop things on my side. I can always find other ways to fly."

Atom focuses in on the four drones Singe had released, hoping to figure out exactly what they are. It doesn't take long for his scanner and system to reach a conclusion, but speaking aloud over the comms takes longer. He only gets the words out a split second before Singe responds to Kanna's attempt to take them out with some levitating rocks. "The drones are weaponized!" he warns. Singe shoots the rocks with bright ether blasts and then turns the drones on their group- one drone fires blasts at each Corsair.

"Last chance to call your friends off!" Singe yells to Kanna, swiping the air with his rapier, as if he's warming up to spar.

Atom is far away enough to dodge, but the fire takes his attention away from his scans of the Comet. "He's got a lot of energy! It looks different from the energy readings from the rest of you. Does armor normally absorb extra ether from the user from a particular part of the body?" Atom hurries to yell over the wind into his device.

"-- Repeat, he's feeding the Armor?" Well shit. She knows what that means, even as she rockets out of the way of that Ether cannon.

"Damn... I can't face him alone, but..." She centers her mind. Lets the massive reserve of Ether build within her.

And feels the Armor respond. Gouts of steam emerge from the armor as she starts to push it harder than she did against the Bloodstained Legion. Atom will absolutely note the parallels in the flows of energy, because it's the same technology.

She might not have met too many people in her time since getting off the drugs, but even with them-- even as wild as they all were on the stuff-- one thing remained true.

There was more to a troupe's fighting spirit than just raw Ether. She accelerates towards melee range. "Well, if you want a knock-down fight, I'll give you one."

"Should be good. Purified ether crystals are amazing to channel through!" Donnie chirps.

He'll trust his brother's ability not to go plummeting, or at the very least give him a holler if he needs a hand. The armor snaps off a salute before zipping around in a big loop.

"Huh, not surprised," Donnie snorts as he sees the drones fire up. Now that he doesn't have Raph hanging on, he can pull off more fancy flying, and while his Feder isn't souped up like Singe's, it's still a Commander-class that he's been tweaking little by little.

Donnie evades the shots with a corkscrew maneuver, pulling free his custom staff as he continues zooming right for the drone. Neon purple light traces around one end of the staff once it's extended, forming a massive hammer head that he swings with ease since the mass appearance doesn't echo in its own weight.

"Absorbing? He must have an Ether stone installed. What part, Atom?" He needs to know what to target!

"Is that how you wanna play?" Raph shouts, baring his teeth as he flies. "Let's take 'em down!"

His simple plan of going down the line and smashing Singe's face in comes with the complication of the drones. Speed bumps. At least it's easy enough to scrap to come up with the next impromptu plan.

To no one's surprise, it involves smashing the drones.

Despite having gone through several rounds of steel soldiers, he maintains his level of energy, pushing his endurance as he sizes up one of the drones shooting his way. Slamming his fists together, he summons his glowing red gauntlets, flecks of light sparking off of them when a few of the blasts make contact against the force field. With a yell, his arm pulls back, punching foward, knuckles meeting metal.

"His head! He's feeding it through his body like Kanna, but there's a large amount of energy in his head area!" Atom tries to explain quickly.

Singe gives an angry click of his tongue right before Raph smashes one of the drones, and the other three open fire on Donnie and Raph as he steers them away from the brothers in hopes of getting out of the range of their melee attacks.

As for his main target, Singe's armor picks up speed and he makes a charge at Kanna with his rapier ready for a clash, ether rockets flaring brightly behind him as he tries to reach the sound barrier breaking speeds he's famous for flying at.

Atom gasps as he replays what he just witnessed. A reaction just before Raph smashed the drone. A concentration of ether in the head. "Psychics have a lot of ether, right?" he stammers over the comms.

If he was advancing like that, then--

Her power flared and so did the retro maneuver engines, reinforcing her custom machine's frame so it could come to a safer relative speed. Even then, redirecting this would damage both machines...

Her Armor's right hand crumpled, again, as she parried the rapier only just enough to pop part of the head off.

At these kinds of murderous speeds, the mass and force involved could leave either one of them a smoking ruin. She had to be smart. And playing aggressively only played into his hands, if he really was a mind-reader.

"Nice, Raph!!" Donnie quips over the comms. He smirks to himself as he sees the drones switch tactics. "No you don't-!" he cackles, twin boosters forming behind his Feder, pushing his speed as he zooms after the drones with the intent to try taking the rest of them out. With less of Singe's toys on the field, they can focus better on the actual threat instead.

"Psychic- is that why he's purportedly so good? Decapitation should do the trick then, right?" Is he kidding? Or maybe he's been hanging around Renne too much.

"You need backup, Kanna? If someone else wants to handle the drones, I'll head your way!"

"Aw, here we go!" Mild annoyance colors the grin the larger turtle shoots Donnie's way, dodging to the best of his ability and severely tilting the Donnie-made board to block a few of the blasts the drones make upon their retreat. "That was close!"

He catches comm chatter amid the noise, eyes glancing between Singe, the drones, and to his crew mates. That decapitation comment receives a grimace. "We'll keep that option on the backburner," he replies quickly on his end, watching as Kanna takes the brunt of Singe's rapier attack.

"Might be better that way, if just to keep him distracted long enough...!" Raph swerves to go after one of the other drones. "Go, Donnie! Those drones don't stand a chance against Atom an' me!" With this, his gauntlets extend forward with the force of his throw, taking up space as he launches it the drone's way.
