Event #10: WHO RULES THE SEAS LOG

The Corsairs disperse to complete their work across the Eternal Ocean, the whole of the organization is buzzing with activity. The scholars are hard at work on drawings and the engineers on the initial fabrication of the weapons. The Flotsam fleet is rather thin as ships are criss-crossing the ocean ferrying Corsairs to areas to complete their important work.

MISSIONS

A Mine Reborn: The captured mine on Hesaeth has remained silent since the Corsairs collapsed it on the Imperial heads during the defense of Flotsam. With the additional expert manpower from Vindess, however, the Corsairs are prepared to breathe life back into it, making it operational once more.
Priority: Semi-Optional, at least one log for securing metal must be completed.
Recommended roles: Gatherers
Challenges: The cave-in the Corsairs caused was quite extreme, so re-excavating the mine will be dangerous and difficult work.
Extra: If both A Mine Reborn and Salvaged Steel are completed, the Gambit “Surplus Steel” will become available for the following mission.

Salvaged Steel: The battlefield that was once the mining town of Vindess is mostly quiet now, with Imperials cleaning the area with the intent to move in new citizens and servants to work the mines. While this is occurring, the gear and equipment from the fallen soldiers is still available for the pickings, so long as a crew of Corsairs is daring enough to do so.
Priority: Semi-Optional, at least one log for securing metal must be completed.
Recommended roles: Infiltrators
Log Leader: This log is eligible for a Log Leader, if one is chosen we will message the leader additional details.
Challenges: Stealing the equipment under the noses of the Imperials will be difficult, exceptional stealth and logistics will be required.
Extra: If both A Mine Reborn and Salvaged Steel are completed, the Gambit “Surplus Steel” will become available for the following mission.

Gunpowder Raid: Synthesizing gunpowder in the Eternal Ocean is difficult. There are a few sources of sulfur, most notably some of the volcanic areas of Hesaeth, but by and large the Corsairs get by on Imperial supplies. With the immense amount of powder these new weapons will require, the current stores are not enough to sustain both it and the standard Corsair operations, so more must be stolen. The Corsairs are targeting an Imperial Supply Run to Elysium.
Priority: Semi-Optional, at least one log for securing gunpowder must be completed.
Recommended Roles: Combatants
Log Leader: This log is eligible for a Log Leader, if one is chosen we will message the leader additional details.
Challenges: Corsairs will need to capture, but not sink the Imperial escort ships so they can steal their resources.
Extra: If both Gunpowder Raid and Sulfur Hunt are completed, the Gambit “Surplus Powder” will become available for the following mission.

Sulfur Hunt: The Corsairs will need to make their way into Imperial territory near one of the active Hesaeth labor camps and steal their sulfur supplies.
Priority: Semi-Optional, at least one log for securing gunpowder must be completed.
Recommended Roles: Infiltrators and Gatherers
Log Leader: This log is eligible for a Log Leader, if one is chosen we will message the leader additional details.
Challenges: The Corsairs will need to sneak past both guards and miners both in order to obtain the sulfur, as well as find a way to remove the large barrels without attracting attention.
Extra: If both Gunpowder Raid and Sulfur Hunt are completed, the Gambit “Surplus Powder” will become available for the following mission.

Archipelago Sweep: The Fallen Isles must be swept of hostile Imperials so the new weaponry may be set up. This must occur with precision on an exact date in order to secure the islands for the Corsairs before the Imperials can muster the legions.
Priority: Critical
Recommended Roles: Combatants
Log Leader: This log is eligible for a Log Leader, if one is chosen we will message the leader additional details.
Challenges: This attack will require a coordinated sweep from a bulk of the Corsair combat ships, airships, and armors. It will be a large-scale engagement the likes of which the Corsairs have never undertaken before.

Turncoat Nobility: The Fallen Isles house many nobles who are at least somewhat sympathetic to the Corsairs or otherwise firm in their preference to live far removed from the Empire. These nobles might be turned to the cause.
Priority: Optional
Recommended Roles: Negotiators
Log Leader: This log is eligible for a Log Leader, if one is chosen we will message the leader additional details.
Challenges: The nobility in the Fallen Isles are a diverse bunch and while some are sympathetic to the Corsairs, some are not. The Corsairs will need to carefully negotiate in order to ensure success, and prevent an early warning to the other Isle residents that the attack is coming.

Kanna Kirishima felt the all-too-familiar restraint of the Armor harness holding her hands and legs steady as the bay doors opened. The common Zepter always felt like she was goddamned naked. While the Ether Drive was much the same as her Drachen, the materials and design were not nearly so ready to take impacts or accept Earth-aspected Ether. It made everything feel sluggish.

But she hadn't managed to get flight customizations for the Drachen, so--

"Launching!"

Work with the forces you have, not the forces you wish you had. Cast sufficient to bend steel and watch those flak cannons...

The Feder boosts forward, and for a split second there's that feeling of weightlessness, and even though the cockpit is pressurized, seeing nothing beyond nor immediately below you is still enough to make one's stomach do flip-flops. But it's oddly exhilarating, and Donnie lets the Armor 'hang' a moment once its cleared the ship before he leans forward, pushing it to speed forth.

His rig is built for speed and that's how he likes it. As he careens towards the Imperial ships, he spins the Armor in a tight corkscrew before coming out of it with his guns up and blazing, peppering the sails and upper deck with bullets.

He swings past to come around at another ship to do the same, meaning to draw the Imperials' attention so Kanna has a good entrance window.

She feels the power surging in the Armor, sees the turrets turning for Donnie. Flak is a problem for any airframe...

Which is why, when Kanna suddenly cuts the float, there's laughter and chatter among the Imperial forces.

Sadly, what they neglect to realize in that moment, when they break off pursuit to try and catch up to Donnie, is that there's a difference between losing power and cutting it off.

She redirects every bit she'd been using to float to reinforce herself against the impact of her Armor striking the deck, and she strides amidst the scrambling to kick her off, towards the masts.

Donnie keeps moving for now, diving between the ships to dissuade them from immediately trying to retaliate, not that he'll complain if they accidentally hit their own ships trying to keep up with him. He jerks the Feder into another tight spin as hears explosions going off from the attempted return fire.

Ah good, Kanna's made it onboard. He'll trust her to let him know if she needs backup, but in the meantime... Oh there they are. The turtlekin hits the thrusters, skimming low beneath the ship as comm chatter from the Corsair ship informs them that Imperial Armors have been deployed.

He switches from his firearms, but rather than short swords as Feder are typically equipped with, Donnie pulls out an Armor-sized version of his collapsible staff, relishing the sound it makes as it extends. He comes up sharply from below, spinning the staff as he appears behind a couple of the Armors before he strikes. He swings it hard enough to knock the weapon free of one's hand, and the head-on thrust he follows up with to the other Armor dents the loading hatch. If they're smart they'll pull out before the pressurization gets too compromised.

It's two good strikes to topple the mast, although the hand of the Zepter dents slightly under the strain.

"Who-- Who the HELL punches with a ZEPTER!?"

"I'll TELL YOU WHO--" No time for that. She leaps back just in time for the strafing run by the Feders above to rip through the deck and the deck personnel, though it can't pound its way through the metal armor of the hull or superstructure proper.

Still, with the sails mostly disabled until the fight is done, she'll be limping. Easy prey. On to the next, Armors on her tail.

Swinging around sharply, Donnie spins between two of the enemy Feders, staff crumpling one's thruster to send it spiraling off towards the waters below. The other jukes to the side, Donnie's staff grazing it as it evades the blow, but it flies into another Feder.

Glowing purple light flares at the shoulder of Donnie's armor as he conjures up a cannon, which fires at the struggling Feders, sending one crashing to the deck behind Kanna.

"Whoops, sorry-!"

The turtlekin flies at the other Feder while it's still trying to right itself in the air, catching its blades with his staff as he pushes the Armor back.

She's briefly pinned by the crossfire between Donnie and the opposing armors, not as planned. But there's enough ground here, or at least things close enough to ground, that she can shove off, lift, and slam a reinforced foot into an opposing Armor that's gotten too close.

Now airborne (thankfully), she calls Donnie. "Let's leave this one for the boarding parties. We have others to disable."

"Got it! -ugh, get out of my face!"

There's the loud *clang* of something big hitting metal, and if Kanna's to look, she'd see the other Armor Donnie had engaged, plummeting towards the ocean far below, Donnie's own Armor still holding his staff, only now it has a glowing mallet head shaped over one end from his magic.

He keeps it as it is, deciding that perhaps a massive war hammer is more useful in this instance. There might be a bit of a mad cackle over the comms as he dives at another unfortunate Imperial Feder, smashing it down with a vicious two-handed overhead swing.

"Nice! Don't get cocky, they've got plenty where that came from." Less now that several mines have been thoroughly disestablished, but it pays to remind people.

"Speaking of--" She rises for a moment and then slams the entire weight of her borrowed Zepter straight into one of her pursuers foot-first. "... Wing partially disabled, can't confirm."

This is just the stress relief he's needed after everything, so he may be going a bit overkill. But smashing things is so therapeutic, who knew?!

"-coming over," Donnie says, the *whang* of something else meeting his hammer spiraling off as he zips closer to Kanna's position.

"Connectors look strained- I think you put too much pressure on it with your entry. Try not to do any really evasive action if you can help it."
