[ Door to Door - Open to Recent Rescues ]
[ If you were freed in the last mission and brought to the Crimson Corsairs, you've likely been patched up and given a room - whether in Flotsam, Elysium, or the Vault. Well, no matter where you've settled in, so long as you're staying in a place the Crimson Corsairs provided, you'll be getting a knock on the door one morning or afternoon a couple days later.
At the door is a short girl - woman - teenager? She's dressed very simply - obviously a commoner - and has a small bag with her. ]
I'm here to provide a medical check-up. [ If you've answered right away, that's her greeting. If not, she's calling that in through the door. ]
[ Apothecary - Open to anybody in or visiting Elysium ]
[ If you're in Elysium, you might see a girl running around with a large basket on her back, just filled to the brim with herbs and plants. If you see her, you might also see the point where she's rounding a corner just as a man - in much finer clothing than hers - rounds it as well.
The results are predictable. The girl is not large by any means, and she's knocked to the ground, her basket spilling its contents all over.
The man gives her a look like he's viewing an insect that's particularly bothersome, but says nothing as he simply steps around Maomao and continues on his way.
The girl is back to her feet to bow to the man. ] Apologies, Sir. It won't happen again.
[ He makes no sound or movement acknowledging he even heard her, but she holds the pose until he's gone. And then she's kneeling down to gather back up her dropped herbs.
She could use some help, though. ]
[ Open Door Policy - Open to anybody visiting Elysium ]
[ Injured? Sick? Maomao's apothecary is open.
Granted, it's a bit out of the way - you have to head down the back and side streets away from the main thoroughfare of Elysium's red light district and the Vale of Flowers, but you'll find a very small and cramped shop eventually. But the citizens will be more than happy to direct any non-Imperials that way, especially if you seem to be in need.
Otherwise, this is an open prompt! Hit her up if you have other reasons to seek her out. ]

Date: 2024-06-19 05:26 am (UTC)A thermometer is a small, sealed glass tube filled with liquid mercury. The mercury expands easily with temperature, so it can be used to accurately gauge a body's temperature.
As for a stethoscope... hold out your hand? [ She'll place the metal portion of the stethoscope into his hand, if offered. ] The flat ends magnify sounds and send them up through the tubing, where I'll have ends in my ears to listen. It's to hear heartbeats, blood flow, and breathing for any irregularities.
{} to indicate non-Imperial word.

Ah, thank you.
[Whereas the thermometer seems to be a more developed version of something Rezo's seen before, the stethoscope is very new to him. Rezo briefly curls his hand around the bit Maomao gives him to get a good idea of the shape.]
How interesting. I'd like to try using something like this myself.

If you'd like, you can try it out. [ She offers him the other end of the stethoscope as well. ] Just put the two ends into your ears, then place the flat part against your chest - under your shirt. You can hear your own heartbeat of the sound of your breathing quite well.

Date: 2024-06-20 01:30 am (UTC)[Hoping he doesn't entirely come across as a child who's been offered a shiny toy, Rezo takes the stethoscope in hand and gingerly places the earpieces into place. It feels a little strange, like he's trying to block his hearing. Then he undoes the top few buttons of his shirt and slips the chestpiece under the fabric. And listens.]
Oh.
[As a healer he's listened to plenty of heartbeats and breathing over the course of his career. But Maomao is correct, the whooshing of air and the thumping of his heart is impressively clear through this device.]
Well isn't that marvellous.
[Look at what you've done Maomao. He's practically beaming.]

Date: 2024-06-29 04:58 am (UTC)She can't help but smile some as well. Maomao isn't swayed by emotions most of the time, but it's different when it's something intersecting with her own interests. Everybody loves sharing their interests. ]
Quite the useful tool, isn't it? It certainly makes one's job easier.

Date: 2024-07-03 11:14 am (UTC)[For that matter, he's tempted to ask Maomao if he can try using the stethoscope on her. However he's not sure how amenable she would be to being the one receiving a medical examination so he takes the earpieces out and holds the stethoscope out for her.]
How do you use the rest of your equipment?
