[Musse is nothing if not scrupulously attentive to her duties. As such, she is here to greet the new arrivals as they are brought to the dormitories. Although she is clearly a noble - her demeanor, bearing and method of speech make that obvious - she hopes that this can help to show that she, at least, is firmly on the side of the rebellion. She is here to greet them and to provide what assistance she can in feeding, assigning, and clothing the new residents, as well as helping assess their skills. If nothing else, she's been able to show her use by proving her knack for reading people's abilities and helping assign them to roles that would best suit them.]

Hail and well met. I am Musse Egret, and I'm here to ensure you are properly settled and cared for. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Flotsam Waterlogged Row, open to all

[Somewhat surprisingly, Musse is something of a wallflower in this place but she enjoys coming anyway. The unbridled joy of Corsairs celebrating, swapping stories, and engaging in foolish challenges with each other is special to her. She'd never seen such a thing in her life as a noble, a genuine affection, even love for one's peers and comrades. She always make it a point to come here after a successful mission and soak in the atmosphere. Still, if anyone comes by, she'll make sure to call out. Any moments in this place she can claim for her own are special, after all]

Imagine if this was a low ebb in the celebration around here. It's an interesting hypothetical.

I'd say even the Corsairs would have difficult maintaining that degree of fervor.

I'm having trouble dealing with just this. It's a bit much!

It should settle after a few days if that is more to your taste.

[ Angelika leans forward a bit, looking down into her drink, momentarily looking a bit more worried. ]

I don't know if it's a matter of taste or just not being used to it. This is the first party I can remember that was this intense. Not that I've been to many parties.

Then why stay? If it's too much surely you can return to your room.

It's a bit much but...I'll never get used to the experience if I don't try it.

[ A cloud occludes her smile briefly. There is so much in the world a junior inquisitor doesn't get to experience, after all. Informing on one another is a way of life, and in her previous life, remaining spotlessly 'clean' had been much of her own defense. ]

I'll be fine with just a little break anyways. I've been having fun so far!

There are quieter areas in Flotsam, should you need to get away. The Ships of Satiation, for example, have a number of smaller cafes where one can get away.

I know there are quieter spots. But I already know I like coffee and a quiet corner with a good book. This isn't something I've done before, and it has it's own charm.

Well, so long as you're sure. There's value to new experiences like this, so I hope it goes well for you.

It's not an everyday thing but...there is some fun here?

[She gives her fellow wall-leaner a bit of a side-eye, and an inquisitive arch of eyebrow.]

How about you? Is this a new experience, or do you have lots of party-experience?

I have experienced many such celebrations, I am quite accustomed to them and rather enjoy them.

Oh, an expert, I see. Then, as an expert-would you say this is a very difficult party? Or should I bow out now if I've needed to take a break?

[ She pitches her voice to make it clear that the question about 'very difficult parties' is a bit of a joke, a little jape...but it also seems to be an earnest question. ]

This particular party is raucous, but quite relaxed. You can more or less say or do whatever you will and be accepted and welcomed. If the noise is bothersome to you, breaks are certainly advisable. But in terms of difficulty, this is by far among the easiest I have attended.

Then, I suppose I should ask, what are hard parties like? More restrictive in activities?

They are often accompanied by the risk of poisoning.

That's...a different kind of hard than I was thinking of. I was thinking about restrictive social codes or high-stakes etiquette based on what you said earlier.

[ Angelika's smile falls off her face and she looks...worried for Musse. ]

Well, those are all issues too but I find the poisoning to be more salient a problem.

Do you attend many parties that are like that? They don't sound very fun.

[sapphirecontess]

Of course. It's expected of the nobility.

[fish4science]

Oh-Oh forgive my impertinence...

[ She looks briefly horrified, worried that she has offended-but then a thought brightens her face. ]

Or does that even matter here? You've chosen to be with us after all.

[Musse waves her hand with dismissive amusement]

It is certainly not, I get far more of that than I need from high society. We are all equals here.

Oh, yes, it's one of the better things about this place! Doing away with unjust and cruel restrictions, lowering the barriers between people. Here we both are, when outside, the world would conspire to keep us totally isolated in our own little circles.

That is indeed why we are all here. The Empire has much to answer for.
