While it's of no use to Rezo himself, for the sighted members of the group it's necessary and less potentially volatile than carrying a lamp and matches around with all the boxes of explosives they're hauling in.

Over in Flotsam, Rezo is helping to set up designated boats to serve as field hospitals during battle. Mostly this involves setting them up with some supplies that combat medics can grab as needed, but they also need to be cleaned and sanitized, and prepped for the tricky task of manoeuvring a naval battlefield.
As he and another Corsair are stocking the cabin, Rezo remarks to his companion "One thing I'm concerned about is the durability of these boats. They'll be tempting targets for any bombers who realize their utility."
