Event #10: WHO RULES THE SEAS LOG

The Corsairs disperse to complete their work across the Eternal Ocean, the whole of the organization is buzzing with activity. The scholars are hard at work on drawings and the engineers on the initial fabrication of the weapons. The Flotsam fleet is rather thin as ships are criss-crossing the ocean ferrying Corsairs to areas to complete their important work.

MISSIONS

A Mine Reborn: The captured mine on Hesaeth has remained silent since the Corsairs collapsed it on the Imperial heads during the defense of Flotsam. With the additional expert manpower from Vindess, however, the Corsairs are prepared to breathe life back into it, making it operational once more.
Priority: Semi-Optional, at least one log for securing metal must be completed.
Recommended roles: Gatherers
Challenges: The cave-in the Corsairs caused was quite extreme, so re-excavating the mine will be dangerous and difficult work.
Extra: If both A Mine Reborn and Salvaged Steel are completed, the Gambit “Surplus Steel” will become available for the following mission.

Salvaged Steel: The battlefield that was once the mining town of Vindess is mostly quiet now, with Imperials cleaning the area with the intent to move in new citizens and servants to work the mines. While this is occurring, the gear and equipment from the fallen soldiers is still available for the pickings, so long as a crew of Corsairs is daring enough to do so.
Priority: Semi-Optional, at least one log for securing metal must be completed.
Recommended roles: Infiltrators
Log Leader: This log is eligible for a Log Leader, if one is chosen we will message the leader additional details.
Challenges: Stealing the equipment under the noses of the Imperials will be difficult, exceptional stealth and logistics will be required.
Extra: If both A Mine Reborn and Salvaged Steel are completed, the Gambit “Surplus Steel” will become available for the following mission.

Gunpowder Raid: Synthesizing gunpowder in the Eternal Ocean is difficult. There are a few sources of sulfur, most notably some of the volcanic areas of Hesaeth, but by and large the Corsairs get by on Imperial supplies. With the immense amount of powder these new weapons will require, the current stores are not enough to sustain both it and the standard Corsair operations, so more must be stolen. The Corsairs are targeting an Imperial Supply Run to Elysium.
Priority: Semi-Optional, at least one log for securing gunpowder must be completed.
Recommended Roles: Combatants
Log Leader: This log is eligible for a Log Leader, if one is chosen we will message the leader additional details.
Challenges: Corsairs will need to capture, but not sink the Imperial escort ships so they can steal their resources.
Extra: If both Gunpowder Raid and Sulfur Hunt are completed, the Gambit “Surplus Powder” will become available for the following mission.

Sulfur Hunt: The Corsairs will need to make their way into Imperial territory near one of the active Hesaeth labor camps and steal their sulfur supplies.
Priority: Semi-Optional, at least one log for securing gunpowder must be completed.
Recommended Roles: Infiltrators and Gatherers
Log Leader: This log is eligible for a Log Leader, if one is chosen we will message the leader additional details.
Challenges: The Corsairs will need to sneak past both guards and miners both in order to obtain the sulfur, as well as find a way to remove the large barrels without attracting attention.
Extra: If both Gunpowder Raid and Sulfur Hunt are completed, the Gambit “Surplus Powder” will become available for the following mission.

Archipelago Sweep: The Fallen Isles must be swept of hostile Imperials so the new weaponry may be set up. This must occur with precision on an exact date in order to secure the islands for the Corsairs before the Imperials can muster the legions.
Priority: Critical
Recommended Roles: Combatants
Log Leader: This log is eligible for a Log Leader, if one is chosen we will message the leader additional details.
Challenges: This attack will require a coordinated sweep from a bulk of the Corsair combat ships, airships, and armors. It will be a large-scale engagement the likes of which the Corsairs have never undertaken before.

Turncoat Nobility: The Fallen Isles house many nobles who are at least somewhat sympathetic to the Corsairs or otherwise firm in their preference to live far removed from the Empire. These nobles might be turned to the cause.
Priority: Optional
Recommended Roles: Negotiators
Log Leader: This log is eligible for a Log Leader, if one is chosen we will message the leader additional details.
Challenges: The nobility in the Fallen Isles are a diverse bunch and while some are sympathetic to the Corsairs, some are not. The Corsairs will need to carefully negotiate in order to ensure success, and prevent an early warning to the other Isle residents that the attack is coming.

Ilphyl is in their normal form for ease of communication, and it could be easy to mistake their constant shifting of position and tugging at their clothing as pre-battle jitters. In truth, it was because of their own curse.

"I'll be in wild shape. Look for a giant vulture. I can't talk, but I can understand what's being said. If anyone needs healing, I'll circle back and handle that."

Harlock breathes out - that and a certain tightness in his jaw was the only hint of tension in his frame, he was not one who shows much - or perhaps not to show much during operations. "Remember, there are other fronts, so we need to take advantage of the fact the Imps cannot call for reinforcements."

Thankfully Tochiro had designed the ship's consoles to be quite easy to grasp, even with the obvious barriers of most of the text being in Japanese. "Vultures are high flyers, if I remember right." He commented. Of course there is the issue the druid can't exactly relay any information they would see from high up... so aerial recon is out of the question.

"ETA 15 minutes, Captain Harlock!" a dwarf called out. "No signs of patrolling armors or flyers," An otterkin added. "So far they have no idea we're coming."

"Let's keep it that way." The pirate declared. "Every Armor rider to the hangar, Iphyll - head updeck so you can take off, all hands to battle stations, mages - do your work!" Harlock takes the wheel, as mages chanted, and Armor riders rushed out.

"Take care - fight hard, but come back." He added quietly.

"Yes sir!" Donnie says, spinning on his heel to sprint off once they've gotten their orders.

Time to put that anxious energy to use! Once he's in the hangar, he gets himself situated in his Feder after some quick checks.

Ilphyl nods and heads off. They had reviewed the layout before the mission, so they wouldn't have trouble getting to a spot with clear sky. After a check to make sure the area was still clear, and changing out their communication device's straps to be able to stay on their neck -- what was loose on their neck now would be a snug but not choking fit, with a safety to break if it is caught on something -- they shift...

... their new size is awkward, and it still frustrates Ilphyl that this feels better than their natural form after working so long to be comfortable in their own skin, but flying is still pretty awesome. Even with the knowledge that falling was also a risk.

There's a slight lurch as the Arcadia rises up in place - the sounds of engines kicking into gear echo in the hangar, followed by the low creak of the bay door lowering, splashing into the sea.

"Take off in five," An elf in a Lanze explained. "We'll fan out first as we approach - try to spread any imps thin, and assess a weak flank."

"And then pinch them from the sides," Harlock added. "Remember to call if you're getting surrounded. This isn't the time to test your limits." There's better battles for that. With that - Armors started to take off, flying through the opening and into the skies. Behind them, the Arcadia's array of guns starts to pivot.

As Ilphyl flies over, they would not see any resistance... but who pays attention to a bird flying so high up? The target fortress had their cannons pointed out towards the sea, and soldiers milled about on the mustering grounds with armors in position and inspected. They were clearly primed but judging from the lack of hurry, they were not aware of the incoming Corsairs.

A woman that looks to be in charge (judging from her fancy hat) is pointing and directing soldiers on drills.

"Got it," Donnie confirms from his cockpit, hands flying across the control panels to get his Feder set and ready. The hum of its systems all around him is weirdly comforting, and he slides his hands into position to await launch.

"Understood, Captain." Don't get carried away. He'll try not to, anyway, but once the Armors are released, he can't help but feel a fresh wave of adrenaline to ride.

Time to put this speed to use. Since Donnie knows he is one of the faster Armors, he takes advantage of it, going outwards to come in from the side so as to give the others time to get into better position before they make their presence known.
