Shu doesn't entirely expect him to. The concept of a Feranmut is not entirely equivocal to god, nor to spirit, nor to personification. It is something of a mixture of those things and several other undefinable things, besides.

Some of these began to be seen as gods - even worshipped. Over millennia, a few Feranmut even took on human form to dwell with their people. Some went the opposite direction and were seen as great, vicious monstrosities who devoured the bodies and souls of people who dared to cross them.
