Oki nodded to this, even tilted her head a bit in deference. "You're absolutely right. Safety is a prime concern for many if not most, in the end. There have been many times where one's on family's safety was of prime concern, one's own town, one's own enclave - regardless of what else in the world was moving, happening or sundering."

Oki was from a country that had been involved in a terrible, brutal war - and the cultural memory still bore the scars and regrets and nightmares it had caused, even to the day she had left it.

She had spent decades living away from it, assimilating the culture, customs and language of another nation, but she was never one to forget or misplace the memories, history, training or culture that had raised her. She was even inclined to miss it, and call back to it when she could.
